if I take a small dog 6lb on a boat ride how do i get a life jacket on her do they make them for dogs or sh i tie her to mine? will she float and stay on the jacket with me,

PLEASE GET UR LITTLE DOG A LIFE VEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! little dogs can be drowned more easily than people and big dogs because of small lung capacity, there 4 water could easily fill her lungs up b4 u even had a chance 2 pull her back on the boat. and if u tie her 2 urs, the knot could come loose and she could drown. not 2 mention if u use a big, retractractable, or heavy leash, it could tow ur puppy down to the bottom of the water. watch her @ ALL TIMES and w/e u do, DO NOT LET HER NEAR THE EDGE OF UR BOAT!!!!!! i hav seen a little dog swim b4, but it almost drowned, so it was kinda scary!!!!!!!! they sell dog lifevests @ PETSMART or @ PETCO. (links below) hav fun with poochiepooch!!!!! :-P

Don't know where you live but most pet stores carry lifejackets for dogs and they are not that expensive (I paid 40.00 for mine) Both of my dogs wear life jackets. It is not a good idea to tie the dog to you or to try and make a human life jacket fit. You will just end up with worse problems in an emergency.

You can get doggie life jackets at most pet stores. Don't try to make one. Also, test it out before your trip and make sure the dog can swim in it. Make sure it keeps the dog's head above the water. Attach her leash to the ring on the life jacket, so she doesn't float away in an emergency. Even with a life jacket, a dog can tire and drown - especially in rough seas.

get a childs small orange type jacket that goes over the neck and ties in front put it on the dog so the strap goes under the belly with the flotation under the neck and on the back tie it off and you have an unsinkable dog I used to do it all the time with mine...

There are plenty of dog life vests out there. I got mine from Foster & Smith for $29 for a large dog.
