The hot water used in dishwashers at rest., etc. is hot enough to sanitize them. That would burn your hands in a sink so there is no difference what temp water you use at home. A good soap will wash away all the grease and germs. You an antibacterial dish soap to be safe and don't worry about it.:)

No you must use hot water. Say for example you had some raw chicken on a plate,(or any raw meat) cold water will NOT clear it of bacteria. Food borne illnesses are sometimes transferred from dishes and cutlery that has not been cleaned properly. You should ALWAY'S wash dishes with the water hot.

No it is not safe really at all. The hot water helps kill germs along with the soap. It also is good to use hot water for grease and other hard to clean items. You definitely want HOT water.

If you use cold water,no amount of soap will kill the bacteria from the food particles and get rid of the grease on them. Use hot water and rinse with hot water too.

In my cooking class in high school they told us to always wash in hot and you can rinse in cold. Wipe off the germs with hot soapy water and rinse them away in cold. The reason we were taught to rinse in cold is to de-bubble the soap. Seems to work for me. As far as if you use antibacterial? Would you wash your hands in cold water after using the restroom?

It's best to wash them in hot, soapy water, but if you're in a bind you can use cold water. You'll need to be sure and rinse them a little better. Hot water seems to rinse better than cold.

I think the way they make anti-bacteria soaps now days...I wouldn't see a reason why not. Although washing in hot helps to cut through the grease.
