I have lived in Israel for over a year and I have never heard of a Scientology center their, though I would not doubt it exists

You might want to check your sources on this one.
There is a Dianetics and Scientology College in Tel Aviv.
It has been there for many years.
As far as being the second largest in the world ......no .
As to why. Same reason as there are centers in more than 150
other countries in the world.... there are Scientologists in those countries.

I dont know how much of the jewish stereotype is true (I know, stereotypes are bad) but if the thing about the power of guilt in jewish families is true then it makes perfect sense that Scientology would be a popular fix. :)

I would check the credibility of the person who said that a religion such as that is in the Jewish state of Israel.
