It's only about half an hour ride so if the MARC train schedule works for you, then take that. It's definitely cheaper. It doesn't have as many trains though, and none on weekends so Amtrak might be your only option.

The MARC train runs almost exclusively during the week as a commuter train and runs rarely on the weekends. Amtrak, however, has continuous service seven days a week but is a little pricier than the MARC.

Take the MARC during the week if you don't mind riding with many commuters. Otherwise, Amtrak will probably be the better choice.

Amtrak is right at the airport and goes to downtown DCA.
As long as the schedule coordinates properly, it is a good choice.

MARC - it's cheaper and it's commuter vs Amtrak.

Marc on weekdays...cheaper and runs more frequently.
Amtrack on weekends...runs more frequently.
