Your flight may cost about $1500 or so for two, unless you are flying first class, then its duuble that. My guess is that you plan on visiting 2 or 3 islands and staying on them also. SO add about $100 for each of you for flights between island. Rooms in Hawaii are very expensive; expect to pay $250 a day or more, unless you get some type deal. The last time I went I used Sheratons and joined their club which gave a 35% discount. Beach hotels are always more than those a few blocks from the beach.
SO my bet is you can expect to pay about $3500 just for rooms. Add another $2000 for flights and a bout $1,000 for attractions and about $2,000 for food and you are close to $7500.00 for top of the line accommodations and expenses.

Go to Expedia.com first, and it will show you the hotels, and the airfare. Then take at least $10,000 with you, you never know what you may want to do while you are there!! Best wishes to you and your future spouse!! To answer your question, "tourist season" is whenever there are tourist....365/366 days a year...there are tourists in Hawaii thruout the whole year, there are hotels right across the street from the beach, some are 4-5 stars, there is the Outrigger Reef on the Beach (but it is a 3-star, the Waikiki Beach Marriot Resort is a 4-star, and located across the street from the beach, and it has feather beds!! Get a room on the 27th floor (partial oceanview room) and you will have an amazing view of Diamond Head!!
The Hyatt Regency is a four star; The Royal Hawaiian, The Sheraton Waikiki, The Kahala Hotel and Resort (5-star),Turtle Bay Resort,
Go to Expedia.com, type in the dates that you want, and it will take you to the hotels, there you can find the star ratings for each hotel, and whether they are located on the beach or right across from the beach.

Well my Father-In-Law told me that when they came to my daughter's 1st Birthday Party in Hawai'i he spent a total of 8,500$ something for the week in half that they stayed in Hawai'i. So I'll be saying you would be spending bout that much maybe even more since it is your Honeymoon and you want to make everything special. Congratulations and Have a wonderful time in Hawai'i.

For hotels, if you dont want to stay in over crowded Waikiki try the Ihilani. This is where many celebrities stay at when they come here and nobody knows theyre there! Its extremely beaytiful, right on the shore.
