Human beings have an innate sense of what is right or wrong based on the Universal Law that exists in the world. Codes are created by groups of human beings. They fit into what they believe as a group. These codes are not created by a divine entity.

Do you consider yourself to be a good person? Most people do. Of all the questions you will ask yourself in life, probably the most important is, Am I good enough to go to Heaven? Let's see if you are good enough...Have you ever lied (even once--fibs, white lies, etc.)? Ever stolen (anything--the value is irrelevant)? Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Have you ever looked with lust? If you have said "Yes" to these three questions, by your own admission, you are a lying, thieving, adulterer at heart; and we've only looked at three of the Ten Commandments. That's how God sees you. Nothing is hid from His holy eyes. Perhaps you think that God is good, and will therefore overlook your sins. But it is His goodness that will make sure that murderers, rapists, thieves, liars, etc. receive justice. Will you be innocent or guilty on the Day of Judgment? Listen to your conscience. There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. If you die in your sins there is no second chance. God's Law demands justice, and the penalty for sinning against Him is death and Hell. God will give you justice, and you will end up in Hell forever.

What a great question! In fact, that question is probably the proof positive for why we did not come from primates. We have a moral "code" imprinted on our psyche the minute we're conceived.

Morality - Completely illogical---but critical to our existence. Morality is a part of what was formed in human character traits we have. Along with the trait of "morality" comes "conscience" , "guilt", "compassion," sadness," "grief," "abandonment," etc.

Logically, humans would simply live quite nicely in an "if, then, else" computer-programming type of environment where a Mr. Spock attitude would serve them fairly well. Do we need illogical emotional involvement to have sound mental and physical health? Yes, profoundly, yes.

Love is not logical. Compassion is not logical. Fairness is not logical. Selflessness is not logical. Conscience is not logical. But scientists do not know everything there is to know about the complete function of the brain, the different areas of the brain that dictate certain behavior, criteria for that behavior, etc.

So, we are left in a quandry----MORALITY. Who dictates or regulates that particular illogical "noun" of a word that, for some people, has absolutely nothing to do with or in the completion of their daily tasks?

All human born emotions are absolutely illogical. But no matter how illogical, those emotions, in and of themselves, are also absolutely necessary for a healthy, happy [illogical], well-adjusted human being.

Enter----the Spirit----The Soul---stage left---the lights dim, and the crowd utters a collective "ahhhhhhhhh"

Humans are separated from the animals by a spirit, a soul, that embodies every illogical emotion we can possibly experience in our lives. The Creator saw fit to provide our human bodies with avenues for some of these emotions to manifest themselves; i.e., tears, trembling, our blood pressures rising, our stomachs feeling queezy or "in knots." The only possible logical explanation we, as human creations---not evolved animals---can logically explain illogical emotions is by welcoming or embracing the existence of a human "soul".

Our creator gave us a birth right, a legacy, something that would separate us from all other living things on the Earth. Our creator instilled in our very "souls" the moral code that dictates whether we are courteous, kind, sympathetic, and compassionate, or mean, hurtful, insulting, degrading, violent, depraved, or apathetic to "good."

Ahhhh, "Good." Yes, that. Well, along with a soul, along with all of those illogical trappings that emotions bring, we have the battle between good and evil without ourselves...

Enter---the conscience----stage right! [and there's a hush over the crowd].

Guilt, fear of being caught, fear of being punished, empathy, anxiety, worry, concern----all very illogical emotions. Still, they exist by way of the conscience---an illusive raskle, and we have no idea what that little voice is in our heads that keeps telling us, "Be nice, Harry, she's your mother."

Our spirit is guided by another spirit---that of the Creator---who guides us, leads us, and instructs us. Christians are led by the "voice" of the Holy Spirit. And those who have pushed The Creator, God, out of their lives, are led by those other "spirits" that are not nice at all---they were exiled from heaven the same time the Devil was.

[LAUGHTER IN THE CROWD]. Now, now---how much more logical than Holy Spirits and Evil Spirits were the emotions we just talked about?

The Creator gives us----FREE WILL----[ohhhh, not another one]. And this is also illogical. God was actually the creator of "pro-choice," because he always gives us a choice between sinning or not sinning, as is described in the instructions he left for us.
B - Basic
I - Instructions
B - Before
L - Leaving
E - Earth.

Moral code, conscience, free will, freedom of choice, and freedom to decide for ourselves. All illogical---but very human traits, wouldn't you say, Mr. Spock? I am so happy that God created us differently from the animals, so that we could laugh out loud, weep openly when we grieve, ponder thoughtfully when faced with challenges in our lives, and still---still---be able to choose, God's way, or the sinful way.

Totally illogical----but so very necessary.

There is a human moral code that exists and existed independantly from any religion or concept of god. Some people just hijacked it as original thought and formalized it into so-called religion and God. Totally weak.

I think - we all know the difference between right and wrong from personal experience - when something didn't feel good when it was done to us....chances are we would not do it to someone else. Love is powerful thing....when one loves they have a gift of several personal "fruits" joy, peace, patience, goodness, long-suffering, faithfulness, kindness, understanding....

Cooperation and altruism are inate properties of human existence... a more sophisticated version of the social organization that you can see among pods of orcas, packs of wolves, lion prides and troops of chimpanzees. Moral consensus, oral conscience and mutual empathy are evolved survival traits.
