The true spelling is doughnut, though with everyone in a hurry and/or to save money when getting signs made in got shortened to donut. And donut has been used long enough that it has become commonly accepted as correct. So either is okay nowdays.

Both are correct in America it's called a donut in the UK it's called a doughnut. However, if you do a spell check on yahoo it'll say "dough nut" which is wrong lol.

It's written both ways, but technically doughnut is the correct spelling.

I think it's "doughnut." I usually use that when typing about the ones you can eat and "donut" when I'm speaking of a dummy tire hehe...But that's just me!
