Can neutering a human too soon affect its growth?

no, neutering too soon will not affect the growth of the dog. They Have been spaying and neutering as young as 6 weeks for a few years now, and there is no effect on the animals. It is better to do it early anyway...

Yes indeed, they have found that the dog will tend to be taller than average. This is good for some breeds and not good for others. Just because they are taller, does not mean they will be bigger.
In my breed, Newfies, we have found they are taller but till tend to lack the bone mass of the intact counter parts. The head my not be as massive as it could have been.
This should not be the deciding factor to neuter or not. If you own a pet quality dog, neutering SHOULD be done!!!!!! Any dog that can not make a positive imapct on the breed, should be neutered. The degree that these neutered dogs are taller than unneutered littermates is not enough that is a concern. It is not like they wil grow 5 inches taller than they would have!!!!!

Yes, if he is neutered before the growth plates close. Dogs neutered early tend to be very leggy, lack muscle mass, and are not as masculine.

This is generally not a problem for pet owners. But if you ever plan on doing agility, upper level obedience, or field work with him, he will be less susceptable to injury if you wait until he is 1 1/2 - 2 years old.

If he is left intact for awhile, YOU need to be a responsible owner and make sure he is not roaming or has access to bitches in season.

When you neuter, you cut off all hormones. Hormones are used in growth. Males will tend to have a more femine look and females that are spayed will look more masculine.
I've talked to the experts who spay/neuter at 8 weeks. I was told that for the long term growth and developement of the dog, that you should wait until about one year.
The bad news is that vet charge by the pound. It will cost more to neuter at the age of one.
Shelters cannot trust that people will spay/neuter on their own. That is why they do it so young.

Neutering or "fixing" your dog will not affect the growth of the animal. However, it WILL affect how your pet matures. I'm talking aggressive/non-aggressive behaviour. I personally chose not to fix my dog because i want him to have the amount of energy, and agression that a non-neutered animal would have.
I have afamily to protect, and thats why we got the dog in the first place.

Recently, veterinarians have been neutering dogs as early as 10 weeks, and they have found no change in the projected size of the puppy as an adult dog, and they have found the puppies recover faster and better than if they were neutered later. Neutering is strongly recommended to have a happier, healthier pet, and it helps them live longer, too (no testicular cancer!).

It affected my cats growth! He's not nearly as big as his father... He got done at 6 months and his dad at 3 years... I'll never do it again before the animal's 1 year old!(barring special circumstances)

Nuetering is the best thing for your dog, you will help control the pet population. Also it reduces the risks of some cancers. Good for you!!
