What would your definition of respect be, in regards to your significant other? Would you feel like you had to spell everything out for them? How would respect play a role in relationships with people of the opposite sex? Please, I would like to know your definition of respect.

Respect is measured by the person giving it and can not be adequately defined anywhere. It would be nice if people met on an equal basis of respect, but that rarely happens. Most people are on an ego trip. They think they're smarter, better looking, more affluent, better breeding, dominant and leaders.
For someone who's ego is on a pedestal respect is bowing down and kissing someones feet, (kiss ***), so they don't give an ounce of respect until it slaps them up side head, and even then the person tries their hangups in other social circles, they never learn.
So, most people, (HERE TOO), are not willing to honor other people for who they are, or the life they live, even if the people are nobodies.
So, true respect is honoring others feelings and situation regardless of their social status.
In other words I give the same regard to a homeless person as I would Donald Trump. When you can get to that level in life all the hate, fear, and preconceptions of people fade away.
Talk respect all you want, and how you hold high regard towards your peers and associates. Remember, others have lived through much more stuff in their day than we'll ever see .
If you want to learn more about respect, then sit down with an elderly person whenever you get the chance and talk about the old days. The elderly in our society are outcasts due to the lack of respect we give them.

Respect is the objective, unbiased consideration and regard for the rights, values, beliefs and property of all people. This is the dictionary definition. In real life it's putting others in high esteem or courteous regard.

In our relationship we also say that if you think of the other persons needs before your own, you realize in the end your needs are met. Respect is courteous and respectful admiration. If someone is very high maintenance then they usually dont' respect many people.

Respect is an attitude of acknowledging the feelings and interests of another party in a relationship, and of treating as consequential for the self the helping or harming of the other. Though most commonly referring to interpersonal relationships, it can be used between animals, groups and institutions including countries. Respect does not necessarily imply deference, but a respectful attitude rules out unconsidered selfish behaviour. The concept of respect predates, and does not rely on, the existence of the concept of rights.

Respect: what is it - it is a mixed salad that includes almost everything. It is being polite, it is never doing anything to hurt, harm or even annoy the other person. It is not doing anything that the other does not wish to take part in. It is being fair in all your dealings with that person. It is being honest and truthful. It is being reliable and trustworthy. It is never to abuse that trust. It is to be faithful. It is to look after that person through thick and thin and to forgive when that is required. Respect is true love........ However, if we manage 50 percent of what I claim is all we can manage, respect is at least trying to do our best.

Respect is honesty and treating someone the way you would want to be treated. If you treat someone in a way that you would never put up with or feel badly about then you are doing something wrong. One should think first and speak second. As far as honesty and faithfulness goes, I think that if you are dishonest to a person you are also being dishonest to yourself. You are creating bad energy and passing it forward. If you pass along good energy you will get it back and it multiply geometrically.

Respect is being considerate of one another. Learning about the things that matter to the other, and keeping them in mind. It's considering how your actions and decisions will effect the other person. It's trusting that they will try to do the same, and forgiving when they fail.

In a relationship, respect is love. This specific kind of love represents your soul's recognition of it's counterpart in another heart. This means that you would treat that person with all the love and respect that you expect them to treat you with. Take care of yourself!

Respect to me is not taking each other for granted. You don't expect things from the other person and appreciate them for everything they do for you. You never talk down to them and treat them as your equal. And you take their feelings into consideration before you do things that could upset them.
