When I try to do anything but walk i.e. run, jog, jump.... I cant breath, get dizzy and my ears ring. I'm assuming its my breathing... how can I get past this?

It kinda depends on why and where you are having trouble getting air. Without a clear explanation of your symptoms, there are several possibilities.

There are a couple of things you might want to check into. I have exercise induced asthma (EIA). I don't have asthma normally, but during vigorous activity, my chest will tighten and it becomes hard to breathe. I will begin coughing, get dizzy and weak. Check it out and watch for the symptoms. , You might want to ask your doctor or find a doctor that treats allergies and other respiratory problems.

Also, if you are trying to breathe through your nose and can't seem to get enough air, you might have a problem with your airway. I would always struggle trying to breathe through my nose while exercising. I could never get enough air. I found out that I had a deviated septum (basically a broken nose), but never knew it! It was the cause of my problem and now, I use breathing strips to help get the air I need.

Increasing your cardiovascular work takes time and training. You might try small interval work at first - walk 2 minutes- jog for 30 seconds. Then slowly build up the time you spend jogging to 40 sec, 50, 60.

One final word of advice - GET A HEART RATE MONITOR AND WORK IN YOUR TARGET ZONE. You don't have to exhaust yourself to get a good workout, but you DO have to increase and maintain your heart rate to burn fat and calories.

You might be working too hard and a heart rate monitor will help keep you in the zone. You should never be running or jogging so hard that you can't hold a conversation with someone.

Difficulty breathing while exercising can be caused by many medical conditions. You also might just need to start off a little slower. Try just walking for exercise for a while, and build up your abilities slowly. You also should see a doctor to rule out any medical problems before you start any activity which causes you to have difficulty breathing.
Hope this helps!

If you havn't exercised before you are probably out of condition and need to build your exercise tolerance. Before you start any type of program check with your MD. Good luck!
