that god exsisted in another dimension or something like that and then decided to create the universe in this dimension? and then as far as anything was concerned it would seem that he has always exsisted and in away that would be true.

alot of you gave some very thoughtful answers. the rest of you are just showing your limited education and imagination. sometimes especially when discussing god you need to think outside the box.

I like your line of thinking. However, I believe that God doesn't just exist in a specific dimension (since I believe there are multitudes of dimensions in existence of time and space, all working simultaneously) but that God IS all dimensions. I believe that God is not a being, or an old guy with flowing robes and a beard, but the source energy of all life. The process of life itself. Everything, everywhere, always, eternal.

No. I'm not even sure what you mean by "this dimension." We exist in several dimensions. All dimensions are a part of the universe. I guess maybe you just meant outside the universe. In that case, it is possible in the same way that it is possible that I personally created the universe five minutes ago and planted in your brain the memories that you now posses.

Yes, you are exactly right.
THe living God (spirit) is in a dimension that we call eternity, while we are in the dimension of time and space.
Eternity has no beginning or end.

Who created him and that dimension? And so on. If god can be eternal, then so can the universe by that logic. That means it needs no creator.

Actually , not another dimension but 6 of them.
Right now it is 4 dimentions in this plain. After adam's fall, people were banished from haven (5), hell (6) But who counts?!

Could be. But I believe God is the beginning of all things. God is Ultimate Truth. God is Complete Love.

It could be. The truth is that NO ONE will ever know. Maybe God created the universe and died 10 minutes later. Who knows.

In response to Adam T's response, if god is eternal then theu niverse can be eternal. But whatever really IS eternal is god, even if it's the universe itself. Only the first cause can be god.
And if there's multiple first causes, well, we're suddenly stuck with polytheism. Sucks doesn't it.

i see what you are saying. Its the same as i said that i decided to spawn some fruitflies and to them i would have always been eternal. But consider not only that he created the universe but that he created people people as smart as you who are willing and able to complehend and comtemplate metaphsyic creating a star that will burn out is easy relative to builing a self replicating organism.

i LOOOVE that idea. ive tried to talk about that idea before to friends/family, they just seemed too close-minded to even comprehend it. im not suggesting that its true at all, its just very interesting to think about! like our life as we know it is all weve ever known, so of course we cannot fathom with our feeble brains something else that might exsist/did exsist.
