All religions are a disease to a peace loving society.

There have been more atrocities committed throughout history in the name of religion that all other excuses put together.

I have to disagree. It's militants that make a viewpoint, a religion or even a country into the "disease to the peace loving society" you mentioned in your question.

Keep in mind that Christianity during its "militant" phase (you know, the Crusades?) that pretty much fit the bill a thousand years ago. It's quite possible that Islam will also settle into the more tolerant, dogmatic version as Christianity did.

Wrong!

I'm a Christian and am amazed that few people understand this issue.

I've met MANY Muslims and have possibly only met one who might be overzealous. But the VAST MAJORITY of muslims are very peaceful. In fact, I've been short money and had a muslim help me out. Although I am a woman, I have always been treated with respect by every male Muslim I have met. They are hated by and mistrusted and very few would want to harm anyone. But Americans lump them into one category without getting to know them.

If you took a few minutes to talk with them, you probably would find out they are pretty decent people.

Just prior to WWII we treated the Japanese the same way. We thought they were terrorists (because of Peal Harbor) and interned them in prison camps. It was wrong then to group everyone into one category and it's wrong now.

It's called Discrimination. But somehow if we can classify them as a terrorist just because of their race or religion, we can then legally discriminate against them. Isn't that special?

There are Shi-ites, Sunnis, Chaldeans, Fundamentalists, etc and many many other segments of the Muslim Faith.

Just like there are lots of categories of Christians: Fundamentalists, Catholics, Methodists, Baptists, Mennonites, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, Lutherans, Church of God, and hundreds of different ones I'm not listing.

Each segment or whatever they are called in the Muslim faith believes very differently. While some may advocate violence, most are very gentle and peaceful.

And they are also very misunderstood.

And that misunderstanding is the real disease, not the Muslims.

It's not the religion, it's the extremists. I'm Christian, and we have extremists too, like the people who blow up abortion clinics. I actually went to a mosque once to do something unique for a diversity class I had in college. It was in Minnesota, and there is a huge Somali population there and they are mostly Muslim. When I showed interest in learning about their religion, they were so excited that a christian white girl would show any type of interest what-so-ever. They were very clear on condemning terrorist acts, it is in direct violation of the Koran. Well, I went to the mosque and was well-received and again I was told that they do not want war, they believe these suicide bombers have no place in society. And 'jihad' means a spiritual war within oneself, not the holy war as it's presented in the media. I've actually also been to Malaysia, which is a muslim country and had no problems, people were very nice to me and my friend.

No, Islamics have their own form of peace, as do christians, jews, buddhists, hindus, wiccans, atheists, agnostics, etc. Just because it's incompatible with someone else's doesn't mean it is a disease. However, it may be more fair to say that all religion is a disease. :)

And you actually let yourself get diminished and insulted by these opinions being provided for your brain inactivity?
If you do not know of a subject how on earth are you to claim you actually provide an opinion or discussion on it?
Islam is a concept people who love and care can define, not scholars, anyone with common sense and pride can say what I say, I do not need to convince others of my stupidity, you know what I mean?
Now you speak of peace loving society, is that the ***** who govern you or the anathem of conviction neither you posses. You do not see many know what to love and care for, and while we see with a little hope other people, you attempt to make us believe you are vindictive and violent, I have to tell you too: nobody is a victim unless he or she provides fear. Most do not fear, deluded young white.

Wrong.
The imposition of any religion is a disease to a peace-loving society.
We each have our own mind to decide our beliefs for ourselves. We get defensive when others impose.
