Get his dad back from Iraq. He's probably completely freaked, knowing that one of parents could die at any moment, and he doesn't want the same thing to happen to you. That's why he never lets you out of his sight.
The thought of his dad there in a warzone has likely caused some serious anxiety (anxiety which affects *every* part of life, not just the area that caused it), and that needs to be taken care of.

I'm sure he misses his father like a sin that's all a boy ever wants is his own father! but if his dad is still gone maybe he is afraid mom is going to leave him to there is such a thing of separation anxiety and maybe that's just what he is going through so mom maybe you should just ask him how he is feeling talk to him but the biggest thing is Listen to him try to understand how he is feeling
Plus maybe you should enjoy this time he wants to spend with you cause when the grow up they don't want to Spend time with there mom's cause Were not " Cool "

Get him involved in a club or organization (like the cub scouts) where he can find a male role model. He needs a father figure.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXX talked to one of your friends or family members who have kids. Let him play over at their home for an hour a week. Invite the kids over to your house first so he can get used to seeing them. This will work. Pretty soon he will feel confident and happier to have kids his age to play with that is not a brother of sister. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

maybe you can slowly encourage him to spend time with friends. Start by having him invite friends over while you are still there. Then as his friends come over to your house make yourself more scaris by doing choirs instead of being involved in their activity. Eventually he may start to feel comfortable that he wants to do other things with his friends at their houses.

He probably needs counseling. It sounds like he has a serious case of separation anxiety.
