what to do travelling with baby and cant get bassinet seat?

baby is 10 months and cathay pacific is not giving her bassinet seat i am really worried i dont know what to do and buyingextra ticket for her is not worth it so plz help thanks

Honestly, the safest place for your child is restrained in a seat in her carseat/infant carrier. Saying buying an extra ticket for her is not worth it is saying her safety is worth nothing to you. I understand International travel is expensive. Im taking my infant to Sydney Australia, so I quite understand. But a 14 hr flight and her in my lap will get tiring. So, Im buying the extra seat for when she is asleep.

You can not predict rough air (turbulance) and no matter how tight you hold on to her, you may not be able to keep your grip if the drop is signifigant. NEVER under any circumstance should you lay your baby on the floor. For one if there is turbulance, she could literally fly up and hit the overhead. Secondly, you can not have anything blocking the footspace below you.

Take the carseat/infant carrier to the gate with you along with her stoller and gate check them. Ask the gate agent if there are 2 empty seats together and if you can take the carseat on board with you. Some airlines will allow you to have your baby sit in the seat free of charge if there is enough empty seats. International travel may differ, but the airline I worked for, if the flight was not full, we never had a problem allowing parents to put their kids in the seats properly. If the flight is empty, you're going to put her in the seat beside you to allow her to sleep anyway, so have her belted in. You wouldnt put her in a car unrestrained would you?? Hold her for take off and landing, but other than that, allow her to sit beside you in the seat if there are empty ones.
