"Bloody show" is another name for the mucous plug, which is lost near the end of pregnancy. The mucous is usually tinged with a little blood. This can occur a few weeks, days, or hours before labor starts, may occur during labor, or may not be noticed at all by some women.

Bloody show is the passage of a small amount of blood or blood-tinged mucus through the vagina near the end of pregnancy. It can occur just before labor or in early labor as the cervix changes shape, freeing mucus and blood.

If you notice blood-tinged mucous ("bloody show") from the vagina, you may be losing the mucous plug that has sealed off the cervix up to this point. This is another sign that your body is preparing for labor.

Bloody show is the presence of a small amount of blood or a pinkish discharge. This usually occurs around the 40th week of pregnancy. This can indicate that you are in the First Stage of Labor (early labor). Labor can start from anytime, to as much as in two weeks or so.
