Even if it were true, I don't understand why it would be disasterous either. It doesn't even contradict anything in the Bible, nor does it mean Jesus couldn't be who they think he was, nor does it mean he couldn't have died for sin or been resurrected.
It might strike a blow to Puritans though.

It is not disastous at all. It is an opportunity to tell others the truth- and it is not what Dan Brown wrote.
Why would it be bad if Jesus had a son?
That was not why He came to this earth." For I do not come to condemn the world, but to save it."
He was human and God at the same time, but He was divine. The whole concept is so - for lack of a better word-stupid- it just amazes me that so many people bought the book and saw the movie. Jesus was not like Mohammed- he was not a man with out being God.
Even Paul, formerly Saul of Tarsus in defending his position on having a wife, said the other Apostles brought their wives with them, but he never said- Yea Jesus had a wife- why can't I?
And the Trinity is not human and divine forms. The Trinity is: God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Three separate but equally God spirits.

I think the people claiming that this book is "disasterous" to their faith are exaggerating a bit. What I've observed, as a non-Christian, is that this book has encouraged many of its readers to consider Divinity in a very different light than many Christians would like people to think. The book has been wildly popular partly because of its unorthodox ideas. People are intrigued.
On the other hand, the book has misled a lot of readers into believing that it's all fact. It's not an academic book by any stretch of the imagination, but to quite a few people it comes across that way. (I've had to endure many, many lectures from relatives who can't see how it could possibly be anything but the truth. Oy.)
In both of these cases, I can understand why some Christians are irritated by The DaVinci Code. On one hand, it can be perceived as a threat to their faith. On the other hand, it's based on theological tidbits mixed with questionable theories and sloppy history.

First, it was and is not disastrous to Christianity simply because it is based on lies and nonsense. There is absolutely no credible evidence to support any of the assertions made in the book or movie, none. It is easily refuted, it all came from Dan Brown's convoluted imagination. He is not a historian or a theologian. The reason Jesus would not have had children is that He was on a mission, and could not be weighed down with family responsibilities. His sole mission was to present the kingdom of God and Himself as the Messiah. If you look in the Scriptures, you will notice that most of the prophets, not to put them at the level of Christ, were single. They had tunnel vision, solely focused on the mission for which they were called. Jesus would not allow Himself to be sidetracked by human desires. His divine desire was to do the Father's will, nothing more, nothing less. Having a family would have distracted Him from the mission. Hope this helps clear this up for you.

Its not disastrous at all.Thats not the only movie that discredits the bible. Mind you that the "Da vinci code" is a work of fiction, So it should be treated as so. Christians putting more pressure on it only gives it more publicity. We dont like the movie because it says that jesus had a daughter and that he was voted as god not actually being god.Which contradicts what christianity says about it.Christianity says that jeus christ came to die for the un-godly to give them a way to heaven, not to procreate.Da vinci says that christ had a daughter with mary magdelene.Theres the big issue. Hopes that answers it for you. God bless

Jesus left his earthly kingdom to peter and its has been a hierchy ever since, but if jesus had a son then in the middle ages his son wouls be the head of the church and if he had a son so on and so forth. The power of the pope would be obsolete if there was someone who is descendent from jesus, but ither wise it would be good becaouse look what jesus did when he was alive and imagine someone doing that now.

Many people consider Jesus to be divine (God even) so they have difficulty with the concept that a divine being would (could?) copulate with an ordinary sinning human being. That would (in their view) knock Jesus off of his divine pedestal.

Jesus was supposed to have died without sin for our sins. There isn't any mention of him ever getting married. So, If he had a son, he had to have had sex out of wedlock. Oops, that's adultery which would mean he broke one of the 10 commandments. It is pure fiction. Nice try France, but your leaders aren't descendant from God any more than anyone else.

If the novel 'The DaVinci Code' is actually disastrous to any believing Christian then he was so terribly undereducated in his faith that it was almost nothing to begin with.
