The concept of "seven deadly sins" is not a Biblical concept but an invention of the mind of man. It originated in the writings of the early bishops of what we now call the Catholic Church.

Sin is the transgression of the law, any law of God (I John 3:4). Any sin brings the death penalty to the sinner (Romans 6:23) so any sin is a "deadly" sin.

There are, according the writer of Proverbs, seven things that God hates:

"There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him:
haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
a false witness who pours out lies and
a man who stirs up dissension among brothers."
(Proverbs 6:16-19, NIV)

Perhaps it is this scripture that confuses people.

Proverbs 6:16-19

Many people fear a list of seven sins that God supposedly will not forgive. This list is known as the “seven deadly sins.” Is the idea of “seven deadly sins” Biblical? Yes and no. Proverbs 6:16-19 declares: “There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: (1) haughty eyes, (2) a lying tongue, (3) hands that shed innocent blood, (4) a heart that devises wicked schemes, (5) feet that are quick to rush into evil, (6) a false witness who pours out lies, and (7) a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.” However, this list is not what most people understand as the “seven deadly sins.”

Most people understand the list of the “seven deadly sins” to be: pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed, and sloth. Although each of these are undeniably sins, they are never given the description of "the seven deadly sins" in the Bible. The traditional list of the “seven deadly sins” can function as a good way to categorize the many different sins that exist. Nearly every kind of sin could be placed under one of the seven categories. More importantly, however, is that we realize these seven sins are no more “deadly” than any other sin. All sin results in death (Romans 6:23). Praise be to God, that through Jesus Christ, all of our sins, including the “seven deadly sins,” can be forgiven (Matthew 26:28; Acts 10:43; Ephesians 1:7).

The seven deadly sins in the Christian tradition were first compiled by Pope Gregory I around the year 600. They are pride, covetousness, lust, anger, gluttony, envy, and sloth. Gregory also compiled a list of the seven virtures: faith, hope, charity, justice, prudence, temperance, and fortitude.

The Scripture would validate all of these concepts, but nowhere are they recorded in a list like this and nowhere in the Bible are they specifically referred to as the seven deadly sins or seven virtues.

There isn't one. Like most everything else in todays Christian religion, the seven deadly sins are simply an invention of the Catholic Church.

It's not directly from the Bible but rather was made famous by Milton in the book paradise lost. written in 1667
read it it's quite enlightening.
The seven deadly sins were originally quoted by the Catholic church. The book and teachings of the church inspired Milton to write paradise lost.
The teachings of the seven deadly sins was also the inspiration to Dante in 1307 to write the Divine comedy and paint a series of pictorials for the book most famous is the decent. This work was part of the reason he died in exile with a death sentece hanging over him.

No such thing in the Bible. ALL sin is deadly if not purged by the blood of Jesus. Rom.6:23, 1 John 1:7, Rev.1:5.

There actually isn't a verse (or group of verses) that lists out seven deadly sins; for it was an invention of early and medieval Christian/Roman Catholic fathers. The link below has some great info.
