There is a kind of visual art native to Japan, where the canvas is a piece of rice paper stretched so taut that the artist must make his painting in a single non-stop action with no jerky movements or else the canvas will break.
To do this, the painter may spend half an hour or more 'psyching himself up' in meditation. The painting itself takes about 15 seconds. The results are said to be a 'mirror into the soul'.
I'm not really sure why I'm saying this except to say that the creation of beauty can sometimes be an act of beauty itself.
