After losing my fiancee' Jan 30, 2005, I did research on death, dying and the after-life for a college paper. I have discovered many strange happenings occur. In all I do honestly believe that there is no "GOD". If there is he would not let half the bad happen that does. My conclusion to everything is just this: This place we call Earth is pay back for all the wrong that was done in our lives, past and present. This is the stage that we are placed to "repent" and this is the place that we are"forgiven" for all wrong doings before we go to where ever the place is. I do believe we go to a better place...where exactly?...that is what is to be found out when it is each of our time. It has to be better than this, why else would this so called"GOD" take the most wonderful people and leave the rest to suffer. I am an atheist and have my doubts but, it does leave the most curious minds to wonder....what really does happen when you die.

God gave us free will and also...there is Satan. (The Devil) He knows what's going on but what some people need to realize is that if they don't pray, then they will continue to suffer. You have to have faith and you need to pray. God doesn't just "allow" people to suffer. Some suffer because of whatever wrong doing they did and others suffer because they don't have a relationship with God. And also, God said that there would be trials and tribulations. There will be times you're going to suffer and of course you're gonna want to ask God why...instead you should Thank God because if you pray and have Faith that he will bring you out, that's exactly what he will do. The suffering may seem like it lasts for a lifetime, but it doesn't. I am definitely a living testimony to that. I'm 23 years old and have been in situations where I wanted to ask God why so bad but instead I thanked him for the pain and suffering because I know it was for a reason and I knew He'd bring me out of it. All the suffering and pain did was make me stronger.
Be Blessed...

There are no innocent people in the world.
There's a problem with you're question. You assume that there are "innocent people".
Have you ever considered the question of guilt? Why do we ever have the feeling of guilt? Guilt is a sign of some sort of disobedience (there are other definitions of guilt but I'm refering to disobedience to what is correct - a correctly bad feeling about ourselves for what we've done). We feel it as very young children before we ever really learn what "society" dictates as "right or wrong". The point is that if all of us has felt guilt (becuase of our consciences convicting us as guilty for a wrong we have done), then we are guilty and not innocent.
The question is where does this internal "right and wrong" that causes us guilt come from? I will get to the point quickly. It comes from the Creator that obviously demands our obedience to these laws written on our hearts (which we continually disobey).
If the Creator (or God as you call it) demands us to act or perform in a certain way and we don't then how can we claim that there are any "innocent people". If we brake these commands in our heart, we are spurning this God (indeed spitting in God's face) by our disobedience.
Therefore the answer to your question is that there are no innocent people in the world. All of us has spit in the face of God by not obeying the laws that God has written on our very hearts.

Many people can't understand why a loving god would allow bad things to happen. They question whether he really cares about us or whether he exists at all and many of them feel that suffering will always be a part of human existance.
However the answers as to why god permits suffering are to be found in the bible, he does want us to know the answers. It explains that he created our first parents, adam and eve, with free will and as long as they chose to live in harmony with god's laws they would enjoy perfect health and the prospect of living forever, this is how humans were originally designed to live. However the bible shows that they misused their free will and decided to become independant of god, thinking that this would improve their lives.
God did not just destroy Adam and Eve and start with another human pair, because this would not have settled the very important issues that had just been raised - Who has the right to rule? god or man? could humans do better if not ruled by god? would it be better for people to decide what was right and wrong for themselves? God certainly knew the answer, but a sure way for humans to find out was to allow them the total freedom they wanted. They chose that course of their own free will, so god permitted it.
By allowing humans enough time to experiment with total freedom, god would establish for all time whether humans are better off under God's rule or their own. And the time permitted would have to be long enough to allow humans to come to what they considered the peak of their political, industrial, scientific, and medical achievements.
Therefore god has allowed man a free rein right down to our day to show beyond any doubt whether rule independant of him can succeed. unfortunately this has led to the suffering we see around us.
By permitting wickedness and suffering, god has once and for all time demonstrated the sad results of misusing free will. And free will is such a precious gift that rather than take it away from humans, God has allowed them to see what its misuse means.
So is god going to do something about it? The bible also shows us that we are right now living at the end of that allotted time and that very very soon now he will step in to completely reverse the bad situation that has lasted so long and fully compensate all those who have suffered as a result.
this isn't just my opinion, it is what the bible says quite clearly, and by studying the bible properly you can gain an understanding of all the above and can make sense of the situation we are in.

look at the very beginning of bible... man (and woman) ate from the tree of life. because of this, God said "Everybody out of the pool! Back your bags and leave out the garden.. life ain't gonna be so great anymore... Dude, you're gonna work and sweat and suffer.. Lady, it's gonna hurt when you bring someone else into this world, that's what you get for sinning..." (this is paraphrasing, ofcourse..) From there, the world basically suffered. Many many years later, Jesus came along and died for all the sins that were committed and all the sins that were still to come. BUT we still live in a world that has fallen from grace. Only through Jesus can one recieve everlasting life. No-one is innocent, everyone has fallen from grace through that little mess up in the Garden of Eden.

I'm not sure you really want an answer to this, or if you've made up your own mind anyway. But here goes:
God made us to be in relationship with him. He doesn't want slaves or robots, therefore he gave us free will. I think you would agree that most of the misery in the world is manmade, and that we do actually have enough food on the planet to feed every man, woman and child, if we could be bothered.
However, it's up to you what you believe, I am not going to try and convince you about the existence or not of God through a few words on here. You need to make your own mind up.

Some theologies posit that there is a god but it's not the theistic and ego-projected one that is responsible for making the world, etc. These theologies say that everything of form -- the whole universe and everything in it -- can't be of god because god is eternal and One and Love. The whole system here -- including our bodies and its defense/survival mechanisms -- become a mockery of god as it's all about predator/prey, living and then decaying and dying, etc. These theologies would say that people want to preserve their individuality (Oneness is scary) and so they create a god that is like a person (judges, loves, rewards, punishes) and guarantees eternal existence as an individual soul. They then say that the only way to find out abuot truth is to experience it directly for ourselves -- to not get stuck in believing any theology but to use these things as tools to get an experience.

What I want to know is why blame God for everything that goes wrong in the world, do you read the papers and watch the news on TV, if so then how come you haven't worked out yet that most of the things going on in this crazy world are actually MAN made, you can't spend you life blaming others for what goes wrong and God is one of the ones you can't blame either.

Because of the fallen and sin-cursed world that the temptation of Adam and Eve cast us into. God originally created man in His own image, but then gave us free will, so that we can freely accept God into our lifes, but He does not force Himself upon us. Many of the bad things that happen in the world are man's own free actions, not God's. He can only help us if we personally and privately accept and ask His help.
I find your atittude as a whole typical of the Darwinistic dogma which has invaded education, the media and politics. This unproven and dangerous idea you seem to have accepted without question, not asking what why things happen , but who is to blame. Religion isn't meant to be a scapegoat for all the problems of the world- it is a matter of free choice.

People who are atheists (like me) or who believe in life after death (but don't believe in religion) will tell you that it's proof that God doesn't exist, or at least that he is not the way the Books portray Him.
Believers will tell you that only those who kept their faith in times of adversity will go to Paradise!
I think those who wrote the Books (Bible, Qur'an, Torah) or who created religions in general were pretty smart, don't you think?!
For AMDG: you should look at statistics, sometimes: most people in the world are poor and/or suffering. A few examples:
- diseases. Why are so many people suffering from diseases? Even in Western countries
- poverty in developping countries (which is a PC term to say that they are poor). Do you know how many people die of hunger in the world
- poverty in Western countries: do you know how many people live below the poverty line?
- violence: including wars; violence towards children and women; pedophiles and rapes in general; murders
- etc.
Each DAY, 1,000 people die in Congo; half of them are children. I don't know what the numbers are for Africa, but it's unbelievable.
Now, I'm sorry, but your argument doesn't work here. People are suffering in the world. All the time. there are way more people in the world who are suffering than there are people who are happy (and even those who are happy are not, because they always want more). And I'm not even talking about dictatorships and its consequences in latin America; and i'm not talking about Asia.
