For cryin' out loud! What is wrong with you people? Words are only sounds coming out of your vocal chords, contorted and focused by your tongue and lips. They are audio symbols. They only have as much power as the speaker and listener give them. It doesn't have to be as serious as all that. If I called you a kooblah, you wouldn't be offended unless I told you it means something shady. It's a word I just made up, it can mean whatever I want it to. It doesn't mean anything yet, at least not in English. For it to have any meaning I have to tell you what it means and you have to accept that. I can decide that a kooblah is a cloud or a tree or even a bloody condom, it still wouldn't have any meaning unless you accept it. It's the same with all words and symbols. They were all made up by some person or another at some time or another. They can all lose their meaning if you stop giving them power. I know it's difficult to ignore a word that is a symbol of 400 years of slavery and oppression but it's easier when you remember that a word is a symbol that can mean whatever you choose it to mean. So if everyone would stop making a big deal out of the word "******" it would lose it's power. It would probably take a generation or 2 but eventually it would be just another word that doesn't get used much and nobody cares about. You could call someone a ****** and it'd be no worse than calling them a dickh3ad. Back in Shakespeare's day it was extremely offensive to call someone a villain. How do you think you'd react if I called you a villain?

I don't know why some black people call each other that. It strikes me as strange, too. Maybe one day they will realize they don't have to live with a slave mentality any more...
On the other hand, there is the standard English useage that indicates someone as stingy and selfish. Maybe that is what they were referring to?
Then there are the people that are simply rude. They have problems. What more needs to be said?

Ignorance is a common occurrence, but not only black people were slaves at the same time Europe was selling their debtors to Americans in Indentured Servitude(which translates to slavery)Since they had to work for their buyers to pay of their debt and as they were doing this they where collecting bills from they're owners for food and rent. Most died trying to work for their freedom

It isn't just blacks being referred to, there are names that Some people use for every identifiable difference they can see or define.
Crackers, fags, Hymie, spick. wop, whitey, Sand ni**er, the list goes on and on.
As long as their own peers and the good people around them allow these words to be used, they will be used.
And if we laugh at the comics who use them, others will continue to try to degrade one another with these epithets.
Sorry, but I see no end in sight. You have too call it out when you here it. If you don't then you are also part of the problem.

It's too bad that we cannot use our language properly any longer. But because people had to belittle others, n i g g e r is a deroggatory word. It's my belief that stupid people will eventually die out, and racism along with them. In the meantime, it's up to the rest of us to do the right thing and just show each other the respect we're due, no matter what the race, color, creed, ethnicity, religion, etc.

Perhaps they had bad experiences with blacks. I have noticed that many blacks who perceive a 'racist' attitude from whites are quick t impute ill will and use this as an excuse for their own prejudice. Maybe they should be understanding to those who may have experienced the same from their end.

Hahaha, yes slavery days are over, now only if someone would tell the blacks that, they seem to think people still owe them.

What about those African Americans who refer to themselves as "*****?"
What is that saying about themselves?
There's no such thing as "reclaiming" derrogitory terms. It only reenforces negitive stereotypes and shows off ignorance.
When will ALL Americans stop settling for mediocrity?!!
