here is todays...

25So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!"
But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it."

26A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" 27Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."

28Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"

29Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

What do you guys think of this? It is John 20:25-29.
I think it means That those of us who believe in God even though we cannot see him are blessed. What is the first thing that goes through your mind when you see a question on here that says what proof do you have of God? Do you want to try and correct them or ignore them hoping someone else will? In a way this verse is talking about them.At the begining it says because you have seen me you have believed.

You have brought up a terrific subject, here.

If we try to imagine what it would have been like to have actually lived in Christ's time, and traveled with Him, and listened to the words that came from His mouth, or to have witnessed the things He had done before the eyes of men, it is baffling to think that anyone in that situation could have doubted His divinity. Yet when He died upon that cross, so many of them despaired and were disbelieving upon hearing of His return. This is an example to us of the power of this world's influences upon our way of thinking. We understand death in this life from pretty much the same perspective... it's final.

When we read scripture, we are able to get the full story in one compressed experience. In one sitting, we can learn of Christ's birth, life's works, crucifixion, and resurrection. Our faith is based upon contemplating the things we have learned and our decision on whether or not we believe these things. The strength of our faith is based upon a personal, inner relationship with God.

But for those who lived it, like Thomas, they weren't given the story in one sitting. They experienced it in tiny, continuous increments and their worldview influenced their perceptions. The understanding that death is final in this world truly is a powerful force in our lives. If you were a disciple in the days immediately after the Crucifixion, and despair held you in its dark grasp, would you believe it if someone told you they had just seen Jesus alive, and walking around? Would you dare to let your heart believe, knowing that you might be setting yourself up to be hurt all over again? It's much safer for us to believe from the comfort of our favorite reading chair, with 2,000 years in our rear view mirrors, isn't it?

Thanks for asking this question!

You may be blessed, but wouldn't it be nice is Jesus could appear before people in the world now and let us touch the wounds? We could all just stop doubting and believe. Wonder why God wouldn't choose to do that. Guess we're just not lucky . . .

Ah, Doubting Thomas. Why would you want to still your hand in someone's stab wound. Wouldn't just seeing it be enough?

If only we could find out who wrote that - or any of the gospels for that matter.

I think that's a pretty lame and poorly written story. Do you have anything with pirates in it?
