Not only was Lewis the best heavy in boxing when he retired, he was also the smartest. The guy whipped the biggest, the smallest, the worst and the best fighters of his time, Rahman, Holyfield, Tyson, Ruddock, Briggs, McCall, Mercer, Morrison, Biggs, Akinwande, Gulotta, Grant, Botha, and, Klitschko. Compare his record, to say, Roy Jones or Mike Tyson. Compare the opposition and the outcome of the fights. Lewis quietly picked apart, overpowered, and, out-fought the heavyweights of his day. He is a smart man. For the most part he fought very smart fights, I mean that from his approach to the actual fight. At the same time, he tasted power from a few of the elite punchers and didn't like it, but, who does? The difference is, he had enough sense to know that he didn't like it. Unlike Roy Jones, Evander Holyfield, Arturo Gatti, Mickey Ward, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ali, money did not sway him to remain in the ring. I would have like to see him KO Roy Jones, and, Glass Jaw Klitschko before he left, but, it's not my legs, body, or, mind that would be in danger. I respect the guy for his contribution to the sport that I love, and, I also respect his decision to hang em up.

Klitschko the Russian, was subpar worldclass competition & beat the stuffing out of Lennox Lewis.
Unlike other boxing champions he retired before getting beaten senseless, and brain damaged like Muhammad Ali.

in case you watch that combat you will recognize vitali had lennox on the run and became beating him to the punch exceptionally in many cases, lewis only gained because of an outdated decrease being unfold out on vitali's eye which became undesirable sufficient for the combat to be stopped and lewis proclaimed the winner. Lewis is a smart guy, he became attempting to retire besides and needed to end his profession on a extreme, why would he probability loosing to the only different credible heavy weight around on the time by using offering him a rematch?

If you were the best and you beat everyone there is to beat. You have plently of moneys. You have all fames. You have everything you wanted and need in the sport and there's many things you want to do outside of boxing. Would you continue to fight and let your health get mess up even more?

He won but got beat up. He was wise that he retired on top not like others who didn't hang up their gloves when their washed up and still pays for it until now like Ali, and maybe Holyfield if he keeps on fighting.
