My ex always wanted to hold my hand in public and got mad when I didnt want to. Sometimes we'd walk in a store holding hands and she'd get mad when Id let go to look around. Why is it so important to hold hands?

I enjoy holding hands with a woman, too. I enjoy the contact, & believe some women do, too. However, I also believe this is sometiems done to display ownership, a way of marking one's territory, much like hickeys. I don't like the territorial thing, but really enjoy the closeness because those times are showing genuine affection to me.
However, I also believe hands need breaks. I would think a girl was psycho if I let go of her hand & she got mad at me. If she still wants contact, she should just make a move, & if I say hold on a second, that shouldn't be a problem. After all, sometimes, a man needs both his hands. LOL!
I had a similar problem a few years ago with a girlfriend who got her feelings hurt because sometimes I rolled over to face away from her to go to sleep. I just wanted to get comfortable, but she took it personally until I explained my back & neck hurt if I laid in one position too long, & it was no reflection on her. Still, I thought it was weird.

It's a way we have of making guys show us they are giving us attention. Like, yeah, there's lots of ppl around, but you and I are together and I want you to still like me in public. At least that's the only reason I can think of. My b/f will not hold my hand in public and I always feel neglected when he won't.

When a woman wants to hold your hand all the time it could mean two of three things. one, she is proud to be with you and is showing you that she cares a lot about you or two, she is possessive over you and that is real bad!

its really not important to some girls its not that important to me but i think most girls want to hold hands in public because i think they like to show off that they have a man usually wen me and my man are out we dont hold hands unless he takes mine then we do but i usually never take his and i dont get mad if we dont hold hands so its not important to me and its not important to all girls just some

i personally like it because it gives me a sense that the guy wants to be there with me and appreciates me. but i do think it is rediculus that she got mad when u let go to look at something

Its a way to show possession. That this guy is ours and other girls can back off. And its also a way to let them know you care about them.

It is not a big deal. I think it is a security thing or even a habit. I am female and could care less about it.
