It could be as simple as dry skin. Give your dog a Flax seed oil suppliment. It truley does work & do not over bathe your dog especially in the winter when the air is dry to begin with. It could also be allergies to food, (don't buy garbage cheap dog food, it is not only terrible for your dog but also causes allergies & other problems later in life) It could also be allergies to shampoo or even grass ( of all things!) Oatmeal shampoo is good for dogs with sensitive skin.
However It could be mange or mites. Is he loosing hair & have a scaley rash? If so take him to your vet & they will do a skin scraping & be able to detect mites if that is the problem. which is easily cured with a few miteaban dips. However It could be as serious as a thyroid condition..does he have dandruf looking skin flakes? If so get him to the vet & they will be able to tell if it is a thyroid condition by doing blood work & if that is the problem they can fix him up with some thyroid meds. Well good luck with your pooch. Hope he gets better

Your dog could have a number of problems. If it is not fleas, he could be allergic to grass, pollen or anything. He could also have mange. Is he losing hair? Another thing that could cause this is if you bath him a lot and his skin is getting to dry from soap or shampoo. I think I would take him to the vet and he can tell you what the problem is. It may sound stupid but since I have an inside house dog, he gets a lot of baths. But when I bath him, I rinse him really well and use hair conditioner on him to keep his skin from drying so badly. Good Luck

He may have allergies. You can try bathing him in oatmeal shampoo. If it is allergies the oatmeal shampoo will help calm the irritation. If this doesnt work you may want to talk to your vet. Your dog may have allergies that stem back to his diet. Dog food that contains corn causes many reactions in dogs...and usually it effects their skin.

He might have some dry skin that is causing him to itch. You could try bathing him in an Oatmeal shampoo. They are very mild and are supposed to be soothing.

it could be dandruff, or he could have allergies if you live in an allergy infested city. we have lots of pollen here and my pup has been scratching like crazy... there is a special shampoo that the vet told us about, but they are the only ones that sale it, that should tell you something! :)

FIRST OFF HOW OFTEN DO YOU BATH HIM? MOST DOGS ONLY NEED TO BE BATHED EVERY 3 TO 4 WEEKS WITH ONLY A GOOD WATER RINSE IN BETWEEN AFTER PLAYING. THEY HAVE SHAMPOOS AT PE SMART FOR DOS WITH DRY SKIN AND CONDITIONER I WOULD TRY THOSE FIRST GIVE HIM ONE GOOD WARM BATH BRUSH HIM OUT AND THEN WAIT ABOUT 3 WEEKS TO DO IT AGAIN BRUSHING THEM DAILY ALSO HELPS.

Oatmeal shampoo really helps with dry skin. My chocolate lab has dry skin and skin allergies and it really helps! Flax seed supplement helps too.

It could be allergies or dandruff. I know my dog scratched herself alot and she has allergies. When my mom took her to the vet they gave her pills to put in her food to reduce the scratching.
