Are you serious? The US by a longshot. Canada has no military, so you'll continue to be relying on the United States to protect you.

I've spent time in Canada, (BC, Alberta, NWT, Ontario, Newfoundland, Nunavut and Nova Scotia) and at one time dated a Canadian woman. Based on standard of living there is little difference that I can tell. Canada has socialized medicine, you need a doctor or dentist, you make an appointment and go. Depending on where you might live, food costs might be higher and your automobile and fuel will definitely cost you more, as will many consumer goods. You will find a much greater proliferation of all nationalities in Canada, and they generally tend to socialize together than in America. You will find that you have fewer choices regarding many things Americans take for granted. While I would never give up my American citizenship, Canada would be my next choice as someplace desirable to live.

I vacation in Canada all the time. I like it there. I only know B.C., however.
