My parents don't expect me to worship them and obey their every command. Why should an invisible god expect that from me?

I respect my parents and they wouldn't condemn me for ALL ETERNITY if I did something they didn't like.

My parents also don't feel the need to interfere with every aspect of my life telling me: a) who I can and can't sleep with b) that I should try and make everyone in the world worship them c) that they drowned everyone in the world once for not listening to them.

If anything my parents are more worthy of worship than an invisible 'god'.

A comment from another question:

"God is not a man ---He deserves to be praised...HE MADE YOU....You and everything you know would not exist if not for Him. Show a little gratitude. He is the sculptor, you are the clay. He can wad you up and throw you out if He wants to..... "

it's your choice to thank or not to thank him but how can you not be thankful for such a beautiful world. I think life stinks though :( Your parents didn't "make" you, they just brought you into this world. I hate the idea of all eternity for something good or bad and I think it's a bit excessive and extreme but if you do something God doesn't like, it usually bad because it's harmful to you or others. Think about all the sins and why they are sins and who they may hurt.
If you sleep with people before marriage, it's usually hurting both of you because you may be taking advantage of each other unless you're in a loving relationship, in which case you may aswell be married to show your committment.
You can't make anyone worship anything or do anything. Everyone has the right of free will and you can only advise them to do the right thing. God doesn't want anyone to make anyone worship him because that would be a sin in itself for forcing someone to do something they may have eventually wanted to do had they not been forced. Being forced to do something is unenjoyable and you should want to worship God, don't feel forced but try and find out why you would want to. Ask God in prayer why to worship him.
God only drowned people in the past because the world would have eventually collapsed had they not been drowned. If most people were making the world a horrible place then if you got rid of them, you could make the world a beautiful place again and then if you tell the story, people may be able to appreciate what sacrifice has been made to make the world so amazing and nice (which it currently is not because it's probably nearing its end).

Sounds like you really love your parents but you have to understand, God doesn't expect you to obey his every command either. In fact, man was pretty much made to make mistakes often but you just have to keep repenting if you do something bad to make sure you get into God's good books and book a nice house in heaven. God also is only "invisble" because he is everywhere and if he was everywhere and not invisible then we wouldn't be able to see.
Hope I could help and hope you make the right choice.

I respect your question and realize that a lot of people struggle with this same question. Why this and why that? Why can't it all be easier?

Only God knows why, but I believe that He sent His one and Only Son Jesus to save us not condemn us. It is as simple as accepting Jesus as our Savior and accepting that we won't know the whys until the end.

Our parents deserve the utmost love and respect (honor your mother and father), but when it comes to praise - that is for Our father in heaven.

I think the trouble these days is everyone is looking for an easy way around the hard truth!

This is such a legitimate question! The sad thing is that there are going to people who claim to follow Christ and His teachings who are going to tear you and your questions down; just like the person you quoted in your question. Your parents obviously did a good job raising you because you are aware and even have questions, and you love them. So, my answer to you is going to be don't be too hard on God. He's not as mean and fearful as what the Bible and others portray him to be. He did create everything, and we should be grateful for it all. However, He's not going to send you a Zeus style lightning bolt and strike you down on the spot. He probably won't even make your life hard: that would happen because of consequences of choices you might make. What He wants is for us to recognize His hand in our lives and to love Him as much as He loves us. It's hard to even imagine; I have a hard time understanding and I'm a very devoted Christian. I have 2 sons who I love so incredibly much and I love my husband, parents, and brothers more than I could ever say, but I do know without a doubt that God loves me more than my family loves me or I them.

You are expected to be obedient to God's commandments because this life is our time to prepare to meet God and prove our faithfulness to Him. He is perfect and so we need to do our best because no unclean thing can dwell in His presence. However, since we can't be perfect that is where Christ's Atonement comes in. He picks up the slack where we fail. He helps us to be perfect so we can be with our Heavenly Father. The fact that He is "invisible" only means to us that we can't see him with our eyes. He is there.

I, unfortunately, feel the need to apologize for the chastising that you will get for asking such a bold question. Those who feel the need to put you down are sadly also very confused. Just keep asking your questions, have an open mind to what the answers could be, and you will get your answers.

look since u made it clear that u are not kid, u should just leave the house if u are 18+. Else if they keep on forcing u to believe in religion u can always call the social services or ALCU. They will make your parents act nicer toward you. This is all I can say without getting into the religious junk that probably doesnt even do u any good.

Your parents had sex and then did what? Did your parents put your circulatory system together? Did they connect all your bones with sinew and make sure that they had plenty of carilage? Did you parents ensure that your heart fit neatly inside your chest and give it what it needs to keep pumping? At what point did your parents make sure that all of your cells came together to form your different vital organs, without which, you would be dead? God is the originator of ALL life. Although your parents do deserve proper respect for the part they play, they will never deserve the recognition that rightly goes to our Creator.

Prodigal Son - A Story from the New Testament
The Parable of the Prodigal Son in the Gospel of Luke is familiar to most of us. It's the story of a rebellious son who rejects his father's upbringing. Prideful and strong, the son heads-off to a far-away land, leads a wild life of adventure, and squanders everything of value (literally and symbolically). Not until he's confronted with failure and despair, does he return home, repentant and willing to do anything to win back his father's favor. To his surprise, and the surprise of others, he's welcomed, without question, into his father's loving and forgiving arms. No amount of time, no amount of money, and no amount of rebellion could get in the way of the father's patience and unconditional love for his son. "For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found" (Luke 15:24). Of course, the awesome message of this parable is that God is patient and gracious with all of His children. He is willing to welcome each of us home into His loving and forgiving arms.

you were made by your parents... like how??

GOD created everything... and then he created humans to worship him and to live a life of varied choices involving both good and bad...

if you do good, you have eternal reward.. if you do bad.. you have eternal condemnation...

if someone kills someone, they get prison for life or death...

if someone do good, they get blessings and happiness...

so believe in GOD and praise and thank him everyday for everything that he gave you including your parents... and the ability to read and write...

Well if you don't beleive in God, then you must beleive in evolution. So that means your ancestry at some point was an ape at least praise the apes for having created you.

What are you searching in the Religion and Spirituality section for, you have already answered yourself.

Your post was pointless and served no real purpose other than to show your ridiculous arrogance.
