and now on her arm there is a big red spot about the size of the palm of my hand. It's hot and feels like it's swollen. She says it doesn't hurt and she doesn't seem to feel bad.
I have called the doctor but haven't heard from them yet. Anyone have any ideas?

It could mean she has had a "local" allergic re-action to the immunization/immunization's.

I would use a cold compress on the area, and give her some Tylenol if she starts to run a fever, and be sure to follow up with her pediatrician.

It sounds to me like she either has an infection at the injection site or she is having an allergic reaction to the immunization drug administered. Get her to a doctor immediately (preferably the same one who gave her the shots) or go to the emergency room with the records of what shots she got and who administered the shot.

Good luck and I hope she feels better.

Did they warn you about any possible side effects for this injection? That is a bit too big for just site irritation.
Call your emergency room & see what they have to say. If there are *any* other symptoms, take her to the emergency room ASAP. The doc needs to get back to you, & if they don't, the emergency room nurses can answer something like this. That is an odd reaction.

It is definately a reaction. Use some ice to reduce the heat and swelling and take her to the docs instead of waiting for a call.

I had a bad reaction to a flu shot once and was in serious trouble for two weeks! It caused permanent damage to nerves in the tissue around the shot site.

I would call the doctor again to make sure but it sounds like the same thing that happen to my son. He always recieved his shoots in the leg and the first time he got them in his arm it did that and I took him in and everything was fine. But you still never know if it's just like my son's good luck

sounds like a local reaction to the shot or the physical trauma of the shot. The area is very large I would have a doctor or nurse take a look soon.

Sounds like she needs to go back to the dr. That shouldn't be normal. Make sure you talk to someone today so you don't end up in the ER over the weekend.

SOunds like an allergic reaction. I would bring her to the doctors office that gave her the shot. They will have to deal with it today.

yes....it's time to bring her back to the doctor's. It's probably nothing but when they say if it gets swollen or red, to bring them back. Could be an allergic reaction.
