I'm getting a 30MB iPod, and of course want to play it in the car, but I'm not sure what to get. Any suggestions?

Those FM tuners for Ipods are ok but they can suffer from interference and degraded audio quality.

I recommend you go to Best Buy or Circuit City and have a jack installed into your car's head unit. It isn't very hard to do - in fact ost car audio shops can do it relatively cheap. IT will cost only $50 or so.

In my opinion, its the best choice because the decent Ipo adapters cost this much or more.

Also keep in mind that if you get the wire installed you will be able to use it WITH ANY DEVICE THAT HAS A HEADPHONE JACK so if you get the new IPOD VIDEO...

...down the road you won't have to go shopping again for a new adapter since it may not be compatible.

I felt I had to comment on your question because the answers you recieved were too short sighted.

I have a griffin itrip and i have to say i am a little disappointed with the quality of the sound. There is a buzz through every song and on songs with bass it distorts. The previous itrip I had on a 20gb was much better. I am not sure if possibly this is a faulty one but i'm told by a friend that a "monster adaptor" is good although a bit more expensive.

Ipod -> A box -> your Radio = too much resistance.

Alpine Head units (radios) have something new called DirectDrive or something and it allows you to connect your Ipod directly to the Head Unit. I believe this would produce the best sound, short of bypassing the head unit and tying your speakers to a headphone jack to stick in your ipod.

And wireless FM transmitters are terrible.. you almost have to tape it on top of your radio to get the signal to work.

Wireless FM transmitters work ok, just get the kind that plugs in to the lighter socket for power instead of the ones that run off of batteries.

Radio Shack has one that is superior to the one made by Apple, so do not buy an ITrip
