There is no proof that it exists, so why do people fear it so much? I think its absurd and that people ought to just live their lives as best they could, not caring one bit about some unknown place. Likewise about Heaven. There is nothing that would lead just to believe it exists any more than believe that after we die we go to a room and have tea and cake for eternity.

People fear hell because it means eternity without the presence of God. There are many things that might lead you to believe in both if you would open your eyes, heart and mind to the wonders around you. The beauty of the earth, the mountains, oceans, valleys, georgeous sunsets, refreshing rain and the warmth of the sun. The intricate way life comes about is not something that happens by accident. It speaks volumes of a supreme creator whose hand has ordained even your next breath. And just because you refuse to see all that speaks loudly of a real God, a real heaven and a real hell does not mean it doesn't exist and that by your choice, you will spend eternity in one or the other.

The Bible defines Hell as the GRAVE, when jonah was in side the belly of the great fish he cried to God to save him from this grave. ( king james version uses the word Hell my bible the revisied standard version uses the word grave) see Jonah chapter 2 verse 1-2 the hell many people think of as a burning inferno where you will go and burn forever is and does not make since, how can any thing burn forever? once something is burned it no longer exsist. God said the soul that sinith it shall die all go to the same place for dust you were made and dust you shall return. God made the heavens for him self and the earth his foot stool, he has promised that the faithfull will inherit the earth and live in the new Kingdom where Christ will return and be king. see revelations, it explains all about Christ return to earth. and by the way we will not go to heaven but heven will be done on earth and at the last trumpet call Christ will return and then the resurection of the dead in Christ will happen then those that are still alive will be taken with Christ but it will be to Jeusalem not to Gods heven, for Christ says where I ma there you too shall be.

People are afraid of hell, because they knowthat if they do not accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior that they will go to hell when they die. Hell is a real place where non-believers will experience eternal punishment, suffering and separation from God. If you refuse God long enough He will give you what you want. For those who do not bleieve, are you willing to risk this? Think about it. Another reason that unbelievers should fear hell is because Jesus will return at some point in the future. We do not know when this will happen. If you are not a believer when Jesus returns, it will be to late, you will get eternal punishment.

A lot of people want heaven also. The fear of hell comes along with the belief of Heaven. Heaven is made out to be the ultimate utopia, while Hell is the exact opposite. Thus anyone who believes in Heaven and it's experience must be very afraid of going to hell and experiencing the worst thing possible for eternity.

There is no proof that hell exists. Do you think that if there was proof that hell did exist that everyone would continue to live they way that they do? How would you propose someone get evidence of hell? Hell is supposed to be HOT! It is a dark and hot place that people are supposed to roast and toast for eternity. The only people that know if hell is real or not is the people that have passed away and possibly ended up there. I wouldn't be willing to take the chance of not believing hell is real, because one of these days you may find out that it is real and it may be to late to recant your beliefs. I would fear hell, because I wouldn't want to end up there for the rest of my afterlife. It is a horrible place. There are people out there that are scared of werewolves, vampires and bigfoot and they don't exist either. People are afraid of the unknown and the things that they can't explain. Hell is one of them.

I don't think even people who believe it exists really fear it. Look at all the holier-than-thou people who cheat on their wives, get drunk, do hookers, condemn and judge others, etc. etc. I mean, if Catholic people (just an example, not trying to pick on anyone) believe it's a sin to use contraception, but they do it anyway while professing a belief in hell, they must not be THAT scared of it. What about priests raping little boys? What about those damned televangelists?? WHAT ABOUT GEORGE BUSH??? Killing in the Name of God?? What's that all about? Wait. . . maybe the first answer is right. Maybe they're all just saying they believe in hell. My own opinion is that we are living in hell (and heaven, sometimes). We make it so by our action or inaction.

The very reason you have said - no body knows whether it exists or not - so the people who have been taught from small days and brained washed with the idea of a place called hell, is scared of such place which is understood - It's just that they are scared to think a bit radically even after they grow up. It is all Psychological. I feel sorry for them.

Christians that understand Hell, realize it is the separation from God that is the hell.
I have never been to hell, so I do not know about the fire and pits or even the bad clothes :-).
However being separated from all that is pure and good and holy, is an idea we can not stand.
If I were to pass away this moment, and it was all untrue what I believe, I would still have had the best life in loving Jesus as my Lord and Saviour.

just because a person cannot prove a place exist does not mean it is not there. just like in space there are planets we have not found yet so you. but the maker of this place called heaven can tell you about it and the reason it was made. so this is are proof for right now. there are alot of things that i do not know but i do know that God is true because of his peasants so i believe that if people would find him the would have all the poof they need about heave and hell.
and y people fear it is this. people always have a fear of things they do not know about.
now if you have thought about all this and find that you are right and we do not have anything to fear how can i a man like you prove what we do not know.
guess we have to keep looking right.
good luck hope my apoins helps if not keep looking
