Dogs are active, puppies especially. Most dogs will settle down after a year or 2 but you can't really find any breed that a puppy won't be busy and active.

Papillons are great little dogs. Make sure you buy one from a reputable breeder. I see lots that come from backyard breeders and they are ugly! But if you get a good one, they are one of the most beautiful dogs you can find.

I have had several dogs over the years. If you don't want something over active, you may try the chihuahua. I have a Boston Terrier. He is really lovable but likes a lot of attention and is very active. But on the other hand , he is really smart and is trainable. The maltese are cute but they require alot of grooming since they have the long hair. Poodles are usually real active dogs.

I always advice on any breed of the Chuahua clan. They are easy going and great companions. They last longer than a large dog due to their small frame. They are excellent indoor pets because they virtually potty train themselves. There are these potty pads you can get at Petco and they know to relieve themselves on them. Then they beg for the door. If you keep them on a schedule, they learn when it's their turn to go out. But alot of them whine and alert you that it's time to go!

I would get a Papillon. They are the eighth smartest breed and SO easy to train. Not only that, but they are beautiful dogs, mine is only 5 lbs full grown. Research on the breed standard before you get one, and get one from a good breeder because these dogs are suppose to be beautiful and have a certain standard. They do not shed, bark and are SUPER smart. I call my Gizmo a little human. If you get one, you will fall in love!! Here is a pic of mine...

my second pic would be a pomerianan. I have one as well, she is 8lbs, very smart as well, ranked 23rd smartest breed, I love mine, she is so loyal, playful and super cute..

here's a pic of Foxy...

Great Dane...my experience, the smaller the dog, the more energy it has....our 6 month GD sleeps most of the day and night...only playing for about 4 hrs total throughout the day.

Mini Schns

We have a miniature pinscher. He is so wonderful! He'll snuggle under the covers with you at night and curl up on your lap. Or even under the covers when you're sick. Probably the best dog I've ever owned.
