I think he's legit. The experts have said that the ratio (high T/low ET) can be caused by fatigue. The stage before he was tested was EXTREME fatigue. I trust him. Why would he spend his whole life doing that, then blow it ON PURPOSE? It just doesn't add up.

I don't know. The circumstances here are a bit odd. There was a higher level of scrutiny in the Tour due to Operacion Puerto and thus any type of doping or use of performance enhancing drugs would have been highly risky. Landis was likely tested several times prior to this also and none of those appeared to come back as positive.
Still, it is impossible to say. Landis came from a Mennonite family, but he abandoned all of that to become a cyclist. There is credible evidence that higher testosterone levels can be achieved through doping, (although it would be suicide to dope in the middle of the tour.....one would easily be caught). My hope is that this is an irregularity in the testing process. My fear is that the B test will come out the same as the A test and even if there is a credible reason for this, that Landis will be stripped of this victory.

The Tour de France tests the race leader at the end of each stage. In addition, any rider who win a stage is tested. Riders go straight from the finish line to the medical bus and give a sample.

Landis wore the yellow jersey for three days before winning on Stage 17. If he was doping, it should have showed before Stage 17.

Alternatively, he rode clean until Stage 17 when he chose to take testosterone. By why would he win Stage 17 knowing that he would certainly be tested?

But someone connected with the UCI (International Cycllists Union) told the New York Times that the French lab performed a carbon isotope ratio test on the first of Landis’s two urine samples provided after Stage 17 of the Tour de France. They did so after Landis’s ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone was found to be more than twice the allowed limit. The results, according to this person: Some of the testosterone was not produced by his own body.

I'd like to believe Landis but this is looking worse each day.

I don't think so. I think he's sincere.

Don't want to be pointing fingers, but remember how the news of the Test A result came out right away? As I hear, when an abnormality of the Test A batch has been detected, this shouldn't be announced UNTIL the Test B batch has reputed or confirmed Test A.

Definately, there was a leak from UCI officials to the media. And this is solely because it was just so tempting a chance to blacken an American winner (more impact than compared to, say, Hamilton).

So, lets see on Monday (which means Sunday for us here in the states) for the results. But even if it comes back the same results, it's just an "abnormality" in Testosterone ratio.

Lets cross our fingers!
