Start enforcing the laws already on the books. If employers paid that $10,000 fine per undocumented worker for each day that they worked, there would be no jobs for the illegal aliens and they'd be breaking down the border fences to get back home. The remaining trickle -- terrorists and common crimminals -- would be relatively easy to deal with.

Through honest, thorough, look-under-all-the-rocks enforcement.
Employers need to hire only legal immigrants/green card holders, and the mexican govt. needs to stop trying to push their people into the US illegally. I think about the time that our country presents their country with 'the bill' for having to do all of this, they'll have their police doing their part on the border, too.
A mutual border means a mutual responsibility. If Mexico can't/won't do their part to uphold the law, then the responsibility and the cost will fall on our country. I think it's good that they're already working on the fence, that the border patrol's being increased, and that the immigration enforcement is taking action against the employers. That last is really important so that no one feels singled out by country etc. This isn't, at least in my view, an attempt to discriminate against hispanics, but rather an attempt to restore some law and order to a process that's gone basically runaway.

Crime in america is a Big Problem. Only when citizens feel empowered/impelled to participate in keeping the peace, and reporting offenses is there truly 'law and order', because citizens are part of 'government' also, the biggest part numerically, and if values and mores degenerate to the point where silly things like labor laws are no obstacle to making an extra 100k this year, what's to stop an employer from doing it? Not much.

This is as much about the fair and ethical treatment of employees IN america as it is about illegal immigration.

Mexico and other countries need to pursue their own reforms, and try and provide other incentives for their citizens to try and prosper at home, well, something besides a loaded rifle incentive.

What do we ALL want? A job, roof over our heads, dinner, the basics in life. Yet, some people want a liiiitle more, hence the drug trade. Hence human trafficking. Hence ID theft, money laundering, god only knows what else, and hence the border problems with Mexico. When the people that run the country of Mexico see fit to get off their butts and get out there and work WITH their companies and citizens to make this happen, they'll have something...

there is no best way. There are a few things we would have to do. First we have to secure the border. Then we have to send all the illegals back home. (And not just the ones from Mexico, the ones from Asia, Europe, and Canada, ALL of them). AS far as
Mexico, it would be nice if we could do some kind of Marshall plan to build up Mexico's economy, but the bad news with that idea is that only a few people run Mexico and if we gave them any money, they would just put it in their pockets.

There are a number of things that need to be done:

#1 Close the border/Build a wall/Dig a Moat/ Militarize the border

#2 Cut ALL SERVICES to non-resident aliens and citizens (No school, No driver's License, No Health Care, No Rights to anything that our infrastructure has to offer.

#3 Begin deportation of ALL persons who do not have permission to be here.

#4 Crack down on employers who are caught hiring illegal aliens. With increasingly costly penalties for each infraction.

Why are all the manufacturing jobs going to China? Why couldn't Mexico set up something like that. We have a bunch of plants on the border. If China can do it, why can't Mexico?
In the interim, we need to build the fence and shoot to kill. The ones that are here need to be identified and on a case by case basis either granted guest worker status, or ship them out. Cut off all access to Social Security and welfare.

By putting a stop, to the reason the come here. Jail the employers, dry up the jobs, and they will leave. Make being in this country illegally, a felony.

the best way? for america to take over mexico, clean it up, put rules and regulations on their way of living. give them the same laws we have. tear down their shacks and make them live one family per household, and do time share jobs here. like one man can comeover work a month, take two weeks off. rotate. it doesnt cost a whole lot of money to live over there, so why do they need a full time job here?

Improve the economic system in Mexico. If the population increase matched the increase in job development there, then there'd be no need for them to run away from their country of origin.

Get rid of the laws that makes it illegal. It's not as if we can stop people from risking their lives to enter our country.

Let's grow up, accept the compliment, and wish them well.
