It all depends on your budget and the type of technology you want.

Some of my favorites are:

The Vizio P50HDM plasma monitor {Does not have any tuners} which sells for $1,899.99 at Costco.

The upcoming replacement, 50HD10A which is a fully integrated HDTV {with tuners} which will cost $1,999.99.

Samsung HP-S-5053 plasma HDTV which you can find it online for as low as $2,800.00.

Hitachi Ultravision 55HDS69 which is a 55" plasma HDTV. The MSRP is $4,299.99 At Circuit City but you can find it for $3,799.99 on Thursdays or Fridays and Weekends.

Another good non-plasmas are the HP Pavilion MD5880N 58" and MD6580N 65" Micro Display Rear Projection HDTV DLPs. they were both rated as "Best of the Best" by Sound & Vision Magazine, PC Mag, and a mild but good review by C-Net. Good prices for these start as low as $2,300.00 for the 58" up to $2,900.00 for the 65".

If you live or can travel to either South Florida or Metro Atlanta i encorage you to visit http://www.brandsmartusa.com they sell most brands {Excluding Hitachi, Fujitsu and Pioneer} for much less than the MSRP. Visit their website and see the prices, they are even lower in their stores.

If you don't live in neither state or cannot visit travel, then browse these authorized e-tailers for the best prices: http://www.onecall.com and http://www.jr.com

If you don't mind the footprint and buying a lamp every few years, DLP projection gives the most bang for the buck.

If you don't mind the footprint, don't want the latest tech but want something that will last, (and have a limited budget), get CRT projection.

If you want a flat panel, the biggest LCD you can realistically get is a 46", otherwise you're looking at plasma. If you get LCD flat panel, only get a 2006 or later model, a lot of recent advances in pix quality really make a difference.

I have never had any problems with any Toshiba product ever. We still have a 12 year old Toshiba TV, and it works as well as it did 12 years ago. I can't say that about any other brand. They build high-quality products and are built to last. Highly recommend it!
