what you own is what so many are trying to create...designer dogs. ha ha for instance lab poodle...labradoodle etc. Your dog is a Maltichi.

Your dog is just a mixed breed dog. But I am sure that you don't want to call it a mutt, so you may just tell people that it is 1/2 chihuahua and 1/2 maltese. I would be careful about breeding the two dogs, because your chihuahua may have trouble having puppies from a larger dog.

you wouldn't call it anything. that has yet to become an acceptable cross breed.
it's not like a malti-poo, or labradoodle. those are intentional cross breeds with actual names for the resulting puppies.
i would make something up and go with it, but when someone asks what your dog is, then you say "part chihuahua, part maltese".

I'd personally call it a maltihuahua, but I bet it's probably referred to as a maltichi (I know pomeranian/chihuahua mixes are called "Chipoms" or "Pomchis").
