You don't haave to sleep in them, just let them and your hair completely cool before removing them. You can use a gel or mousse before you dry your hair and roll it to keep the wave all day. You can use hot sticks easier and put more hair on each stick than you normally would. For tight curls use less hair on the smallest sticks with the gel/mousse. Have fun!

OOOOOH, this one can be scary.
Putting layers in your hair helps if you have hair that is very straight. I am jealous, by the way) then consider the rollers. Also, dirty ( not washed within 24 hours) is more pliable than clean hair.
Myself, I would wash my hair, then comb it out, put a little curl boost in it ( salon or store bought) then go to sleep, and in the morning, finger comb through your hair.

lol i gotcha; mine's the comparable type. i take advantage of small orange juice cans, spray gently in the previous I take them down, and use an excellent toothed comb, no brush. Or roll it right into a good bun moist and permit it dry.(mine will lock, too, if i don't comb it out)
