Yes you deserve some sort of verbal acknowledgment that what you do is appreciated - we all thrive on "atta girls" or "atta boys". It means they have gratefully recognized the good we are trying to do and value the time we have spent doing these deeds.

Of course a grown child deserve appreciation. Do they always get it? Heck no. In many families, the parents become the children when elderly.

If they became effusively appreciative, it might somehow be an admission of how helpless they feel at this point of life, and how bad or guilty they feel about being a burden. Not a smart approach, but if they raised you to be as responsible toward them as you are, they must be good people at heart.

Being elderly, while it beats the alternative, can be frustrating (i am imagining). Love and a great deal of slack are called for.

of course...especially in today's world where we are all so busy,that taking time out to help a friend or family member is commendable and a thankyou and hug should be the least you get
