No, it is definitely not wrong.
Remember all of the translations and interpretation throughout the centuries.
Listen quietly as you live and you will understand it as you are meant to.

I think you have the right attitude. The Bible, like other Holy Books, cannot and should not be taken literally. This has nothing to do with being a good Christian or not.
It was written in times very different from ours and the readers understood the message because it was written in the language of the times and applied to the culture of the time.
Both language and culture have changed over time, so - even if the message may still be the right one (and this is a matter of faith) - the text around it should be taken not literally but in context.
In my opinion you are a better Christian than you fundamentalist friend, because blind, unquestioning faith is so much easier than doubting the words and still accept and live the Christian message.

I would have to agree with your friends. A lady know told me about a guy that believes in GOD, but not the birth of Jesus Christ. Is that possible? The bible is our "living instructions" for life on earth. How can you believe in some of the things said and not others? How do you prove that one verse is right but the other is only an interpretation? I think you should pray about it, ask GOD it open your eyes to the wisdom and knowledge of the bible. You'll be surprised! Good luck!! :-)

Sometimes I have troblem with my faith in what the Bible says because man has updated it so much that it has lost most of the orginal language.
People misinturpate what the Bible says most of the time they take scripture from the old testemant and try to apply it to today.
We as Chirstains need to remember one thing when reading the word of God that it was in the begining mainly for the jews the Laws set foreth in the old testement were not for us but maily for the Children of Israel.
ONe thing God told us and this is Love your enemies do good to those the would use you wrong.
The main theme is just this love, Love God hate sin not the sinner

You are not wrong, just human. besides the Bible was written and translated by men and there are 26 different versons of it- I believe that God cannot be defined or experienced through one book anway, He is SO MUCH MORE THAN that! I do believe that the teachings of Christ are wonderful and should be followed- Do good, love other, etc... Everyone has their own spiritual path to follow- no one is the same- take some time in prayer or meditation and simply "BE STILL" Your will find your own path within.

Which is ? Morals, Principal's, Justice, Qualities, etc.......... But , what, " What " isn't factual. to you? Is it that you don't really believe God exist, and that the bibles isn't his written word. Well, it is good you are scearching for what is the truth. Deception, lies, are the Devil's tool, and so is Doubt. Keep Praying for answers and they will be answered. All the Accounts in the lives of those who lived in bibles times even up to our day have lessons we should all learn from. Read your bible, ask in prayer for help and so wisdom to be able to discern what you need to do or what direct you should take in your life. God has a name, "Jehovah" and his son's "Jesus" call on through his son.

Well, if you know for a fact that there are things in the bible that are wrong and people are trying to ignore all that and just follow it anyway, what does that tell you about religion?
Maybe they are so insecure in their belief that they feel better with company?
And if parts of the bible aren't true and 'god' who is supposed to be infallible wrote it, what does that tell you about this so-called Deity?
By the way, read through the whole thing and look for instances of: murderous fanaticism, genocide, slavery, intolerance, absurdity and of course, UNICORNS. (Which the apologist will say was just a mistranslation.)
PS Notice how John S. needs to pull you aside and tell you how wrong you are.

It is all or nothing. The Bible is the WORD of God. You have to believe that to be a true Christian. The old testament predicts the Messiah & reveals who God is. The New Testament tells the actual story of the birth, death and resurrection of Christ as well as the disciples and others spreading the Good News. You cannot pick and choose. Who are YOU to pick which is true?

I don't feel I can answer this question without sounding judgemental, but I think your friends are trying to help you. They should try to explain it a little better though. I have often question where Cain found his wife in the Land of Nod, east of Eden. This has never been explained to my satisfaction. I just take it on blind faith, because it is in the Bible.

I'm assuming that what you believe is that the bible has some great lessons and words to live by, but some stuff is waaaaaay out of whack. Noah's ark, Lot and his wife, etc.
Welcome to the world of rational thinking.
Now head over to www.whydoesgodhateamputees.com and do a little more reading and thinking

Faith is believing something you cannot see. We have God's assurance that the Bible is God's Word. If you believe in God, than it is not much of a stretch to realize that the Almighty is capable of preserving his Word for us.
Mark 13:31Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
2 Timothy 3:16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
