...Does the habitual use of laxatives cause real weight loss, or just loss of water retention? If it results in real weight loss, how? Does food exit the body so quickly that the fat, calories, nutrients, etc. are lost? I thought poop was just waste! Are people who go #2 more often (naturally) thinner than those who don't???

Your body naturally takes out the nutrients it needs in a slow process. Laxatives make your system speed up so you don't get the nutrition from the food you eat. You will lose some weight but you also will not get the nutrition you need and be more likely to get sick. I've also heard that lazative abusers smell since the just about always have to go to the bathroom. It is not a good way to lose weight. Taking laxatives when you don't need them will give you the runs, and that is not attractive at all. Also you won't retain water you will lose it, when your body digests food the last thing it does is removes all the excess liquid. So you would be dehridated, smelly and sick, and only a little bit thinner it doesn't sound worth it to me.

Well, use of laxatives can result in losing weight because the food passes too quickly for the nutrients and calories to be absorbed by the small intestine. I have heard that about15% of calories will be lost. HOWEVER, this will also mess up your electrolytes. This can result in cardiac issues. Long term abuse of laxatives can also cause dependence, so you would actually get constipated without them. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this. Diarrhea and gas aren't nice.

it makes you poop faster. your body doesnt have time to absorb very much from what you eat so you dont get all the calories and carbs but you also dont get the vitamins. so .... take vitamins in the morning and laxatives a couple hrs later. but only use the laxatives for about 7 days. dont use for 3 or 4 days. use for 7. dont use for 3 or 4. and so on...if used for more than 7 days you can become dependent and will have to take laxatives just to be able to poop at all!
but yes it works...the average person has about 20 POUNDS of poop just sitting in their intestines that you cant get rid of with out cleansing with laxatives. ive been taking 3 tablespoons of milk of magnesia a day for the past 2 days and have lost 6 pounds.
