Most commonly used oil in restaurants is vegetable oil. However you should ask the restaurant before you go in what kind of oil they use. Nowadays with so many different food allergies out there, many restaurants will inform you of the ingredients in their food as well as the areas where it is being prepared, how it is prepared, etc. All you need to do is let them know of your child's allergies and they will do everything they can to help you with that in choosing what to order and having it specially prepared because they really want your business. Communication is the key, you communicate to them, they will ensure your child's safety when eating out. They also do not want any bad outcome from someone having an allergic reaction to something they served. good luck!

You can call any restaurant and ask if they use peanut oil and I believe if they do they are suppose to post it in the menu. Also, be aware that any place that puts peanuts in any of their meals may potentially be cutting your food up on the cutting board where peanuts may have been cut. Let them know that you have a peanut allergy and alert them to this.
