anyone who is divorced has nothing to say about gay marriage. they OBVIOUSLY don't know about the sanctity of marriage so they don't know what they are talking about.they're just talking out their butts. (i'm straight - but not narrow (minded))
if they can't keep their straight marriages together who are they to say someones 'wife' or 'husband' can't get insurance?

abortion is between me and my maker. not a man who gets paid with my tax dollars.
this is my body not yours or any law-makers'. i pay the consequences of the things i do to my body (ie:smoking, falling and hurting myself) not anyone but me.

let's say i get hurt skydiving.
it says in the bible 'do thyself no harm'. skydiving had not been invented yet, so does this mean that if i injur myself i have sinned? if i die skydiving do i go to hell? is skydiving doing harm? no.

That's like saying. We should make murder legal, because people should have free will.

The Bible says that sin is sin...
It mentions specifically that Homosexuality is an abomination.

But, you might as well give the people all freedom right? Let them do whatever they want. That's fair? They shouldn't have any laws because it's our choice?
Is that what you are saying?

The Bible, in the Old Testament... talked about purging all evil from among the Israelites.. for the sole reason that it would pull them down if they didn't. The person that was doing evil would try to persuade them to believe differently .. to believe that it was ok... It would be a thorn in their faith.

How much more would laws like, abortion, gay and lesbian marriages, things like this... change civilization?

This sick world already accepts.. perversion on t.v., smut on childrens shows, they have kids movies where the young girls and boys are all obsessed over the opposite sex at like 12 and 13... By the end of the movie they are making out and everything. To me, that's promoting sexual acts at a young age.

How much farther can we go??

great question

God is the ultimate standard for what is right and what is wrong. God clearly makes his feelings about homosexual behavior felt in the Bible in the books of leviticus, romans, 1 corinthians and other places. it is described as an abomination. Christians don't like because we know God doesn't like it. i'm sure you would want laws passed against killing people wouldn't you. well, so do christians. God has commanded us not to do it and therefore, just like homosexual behavior, we should not do it nor encourage others to do so.

my stance with abortion is this: when is it right to take an innocent person's life? you will say never. so we can conclude that if the aborted fetus is a life, everyone should be against it. and if it is not an innocent person, then you will have to consider the fact that an abortion can be a bigger mistake than just killing a baby. what if mary had an abortion and the savior of the world was killed before he had a chance to die on the cross?

Most devout Christians probably believe that God will bless and protect any nation that adheres to his commandments. At least, that's what the scriptures seem to indicate. Most non-believers and even some Christians do not believe this sort of thing.

We are given free agency, which means we can do whatever we want. God will not take that gift away from us. God wants us to make our own choices. But the manner in which we exercise that free agency will determine how God rewards us.

Over the years it seems as though this nation is moving farther and farther from God. Our country as a whole is becoming more accepting of gays/lesbians, abortions, etc. Fifty years ago these things wouldn't have even been given a second thought. These days we can't mention the word "God" in schools, but we can pass out free condoms to kids. We are asked to stop saying the pledge of allegiance and to remove the phrase "In God We Trust" from our currency because some atheists want it that way. We are witnessing the demoralization of America as movies and television programs are portraying more and more sex and violence. It's been said that pornography alone was responsible for making the Internet so popular, and now it is easier than ever for even a 12-year-old to view this kind of material.

It seems everyone wants to have their choices protected. They want whatever they wish to do to be legal. What will be the next hot topic? Today it's abortions and gay marriage. Tomorrow it could be about legalizing public nudity.

Will God continue to bless and protect this nation if we forsake him? I guess we'll just have to wait and find out...

God gave us a free will to make our own choices becuase he wants us to live for him by our own choice, not because he forced us to. the Bible is like an owner's manual for you life, you read it and apply what it says to your life to know how to live for God. ultimately yes, it is your own choice whether you have an abortion or a gay relationship, but he mentions same sex relations in the bible as being unholy. And abortion is taking an innocent life into your own hands and killing it, which is also wrong according to the Bible.

while these things are "sins", god is also a forgiving God and will forgive people who do these things. We should also be forgiving. Being against gay marriage and abortion doesn't mean we should be against those people, we just should not promote or act on thsoe behaviors.

It's not just the Christians that want a marriage law. A majority of Americans want the law passed as well. It is tied to the Christian faith because the Bible does teach about marriage. God established marriage as the union between one man and one woman, as in Adam and Eve. Man does have free will to disobey God, that's why Eve ate of the forbidden fruit. Man has a sinful nature, that's why laws exist in every culture. Take your argument one step further, why not abolish laws altogether? We live in a dangerous day, one that claims there is no absolute truth. That morality is relative to your beliefs not mine. (moral relativism). If something is OK for you but not for me then it must be OK. How do you resolve that among differing cultures? There MUST be absolute truth! God's truth is absolute! You can disagree, but what if you're wrong?

There's a difference between one's free choice and forcing it's acceptability.

In the public school system, my children are spoon fed evolution. If I bring in a Bible and mention there may be another school of thought there will be hell to pay.

They're subjected to all manner of media advocating the acceptance of a homosexual lifestyle. If I point out that God said it was an abomination I am accused of being a radical, racist, nazi, and a (add whatever you like here).

The reason there is proposed legislation banning gay marriage is that there is proposed legislation to legalize it.

Wake up.

Okay, I'm not a Christian but I'm always amazed by the things people say about abortion. You ask whether God wants people to have the free will to make their own choices . But what about the unborn child?

I have a question for you and others who make similar statements about Christians not wanting laws passed regarding gay marriages and abortion. Are you aware that it isn't only Christians that don't want these laws passed? And are you also aware that not ALL Christians believe they should not be passed?

For the same reason that we support laws against murder and robbery. Because those things are wrong, and it is for the good of society to prohibit them. Gay marriage is bad for the already suffering family, and bad for children, who need and deserve both a mother and a father. Abortion is murder.

Yes he would but he wants his people to stand up for him in this world, we know that one of the ten commandments is do not murder, when you have an abortion you are murdering. and gay marriage is an abbomination. Gods people must stand up for him and try to save this world at least a little bit.
