I'm going to college in the fall and I have boring dark hair. I want to get highlights, but I'm on a tight budget. Is there any place near zip code 55101, St. Paul, that does a good job for a good price? I have shoulder length, dark dark brown hair. Phone numbers, addresses, and cost are helpful.

Best place is a beauty college. You only pay a certain percentage and you don't have to worry about anyone messing up your hair b/c you have 2 people doing it. The student and the supervisor.

I read in an interview years ago that Kirstie Alley does her own using Jolene facial hair bleach, so guess where mine come from when I have them. They look gooood and are soooo easy. Try it. At a local drug store near you. Little green and white box. Under 10 bucks. Save your money for books and pizza lady!

I've never had my hair colored, but I suggest going to a cosmetology school and having them do it. I've had my hair cut at one and I told them to do whatever and they gave me a very nice cut and styled it, too. Cosmetology schools also aren't very expensive, which is always a plus.

contact local hair schools they charge less than professional places and they still do a great job on it.

at home you can do it, they have kits, but if you are worried that you might mess up, go to a salon...go to allure.com and look under directory and you can type in your city and it should give you a list of salons and all that.

if you want it to be cheap, try doing it yourself or enlist a friend that's done it before to help you.
