I respect anyone, as long as they respect me. But why do christians and catholics try to change people? I am who I am and not going to change my beliefs. I don't push my religion or beliefs on anyone, but I think it is really disrespectful for people to try and push their religion on others and saying that people that don't believe are "sinners" and "going to hell" etc. What's up with that?

Ok.. for the 50th. time! You are overgeneralizing. Read the other posts about this. Please! Seriously. This question is sooooo over-rated!

We tell people about Christ because it's like a great secret that we have and we want to share it.

We want to save as many souls as we can.. not for our benefit... but for theirs.

Nobody can MAKE you change... so STOP whinning about it. Seriously. Some Athiests or Muslims are just as pushy towards Christians as you are saying Christians are to you. It's a never ending circle. An endless war. Don't ask questions that have been asked over and over and over... If you don't like it ignore it. That's what the rest of us have to do. But don't overgeneralize because it's not only those specific religions. It's everyone. There are fanatics with every religion and race.

Remember that.

P.S. This is a post from you a couple of weeks ago. It sounds to me like you need God. Sounds to me like you need a reason to have faith and to live a better more fulfilling life. Christians find happiness, satisfaction, peace, love, content, & more meaning to life... Doesn't sound so bad considering your post.

Does anyone think it is possible??? See details?
Does anyone think it is possible to leave the state you live, discard all of your ID's, and pretend to not remember who you are and start a new life???

I am not a criminal, I don't even have a police record, I just want to escape from my crappy life and start over.

CHRISTIANITY ISN'T AS BAD AS YOU THINK. Maybe you need to research more.

The EMAIL from you.

I have a right to complain, Catholics and christians killed my people in the past, just because they had different beliefs. I am a Pagan, and in the past, christains and catholics burned us, crushed us, etc... I go to Salem every year to celebrate halloween, or all hallows eve, it is a religious holiday for us Pagans/Witches. But, there is always at least one christain/catholic asshole in the crowd with a megaphone, ruining our celbration by telling us we are going to hell and we are sinners. I have no problem if you are christain or catholic, but stop disrespecting other peoples religions

Answer:
Ok.. because someone wherever you go to your celebration ticked you off, you rant and rave and blame all Christians? Also, I'm sorry, but the pity party about you witches or pagan religions being punished or killed doesn't fly with me. You are not the only people that have been persecuted through the years. Christians were persecuted in the Bible, Jews were persecuted, Blacks were slaves, Indians were run out of their land, Women were treated unfairly. Don't pretend like wiccans and pagan religions are the only people that have suffered throughout the years. That's an illogical argument.

Everyone can complain. That's easy. But to call out everyone is wrong. Tell the specific person you are talking about. Not the group.

If some hispanic guy rapes my sister.. in your logic.. should I hate all hispanics.. because of this?

The answer is no. You don't punish and talk trash about the group for a single person's action.

The people that run the religion are considerably smarter than the pawns that are trying to convert you. The leader tells the pawn to convert, for the glory of god, and the pawn does so, because he just listened to fire and brimstone for 2 hours, and is easily persuaded... Do you think the people that run a religion actually believe in it? Hell no they don't...

Here's the bottom line... MONEY!

Religion used to be all about crowd control. Then one day, someone realized they could make money of this crap, and then BAM! They made up a story about a fellow named jesus, and wrote a book about it, all of a sudden, everybody has to give money to the church. (crude paraphrase)

Pawns are tasked to convert people, because the more people in a religion, the more tithe is collected. The Catholic church is the largest industry in the world.

Do you know why catholics used to have to eat fish on fridays? The catholic church owned part of the fishing industry. Why would they sit by, and lose money, when they can fabricate a story about a man, just like you and I, was told by God, to make people eat fish on friday?

Come on... Let's say, for one second, that there is a god... Don't you think he would have a lot more going on than worrying about my diet? HELLO?!

I think it has a lot to do with how the religion is interpreted by the authority of those particular sect or church. you'll notice that there are several branches out there that actively recruit for more followers-they may have been needed more back in the days, but no so much now, but they may still believe that it is their duty to spread their "gospel". Many Christian and Muslim sects are more inclined to do this (think of the guys in shirt and ties that come to your door on Saturdays with their Lighttower pamphlets). However, other religions such as Scientology also does this to attract more followers as well as expand their treasury. However, a lot of eastern religions are not as active in expanding-you will notice that Buddhist do not do this and are generally very accepting of other faiths. It just depends on the faith and the history of that faith and the people who are in charge

The issue is they truly think they believe they are doing right. The answer with the blindfolded guy steping into traffic is a wonderful example.

However it is still wrong for them to push so violently their religeon. I much prefer the muslim approch. they ask you your beliefs and then formally offer to show you the path to their version of god. and if you refuse they say thank you and state they hope you'll come around, but no big. have a great life.

so much better than the forced approch.

The only person you can change is yourself.

Christians are basically instructed to go out and share the Word, some are just pushy, others use scare tactics.

It's not unlike sales by any means. Find a someone who is a good listener if you are curious.

I am not trying to "push" anything onto you...I am of the Christian Faith. and it is not God's will that any pushing be done... unlike many"religions" The Christian Faith can not be spread at the point of the sword... you are free to reject God if you like,,,

You ask "what's up with that"...in responce I invite you to my website. It is nothing fancy just me going on about what you just asked about...

I do not expect you to "convert" and I am not "pushing"...but you do seem to have some misunderstanding of The Christian Faith... If you go through the pages from my welcome page, as I set it up, you should get a better idea of "What's up with that"

If you have any questions or comments you may contact me from the contact page.... here is the link

Catholics ARE christian by the way, and its only the lunatic fringe of any group that tries to force their beliefs on you. Unfortunately, the lunatic fringe seems to be breeding rather quickly when it comes to fundie Christians. It could be because the world seems to have a surfeit of sociopaths these days

well, at this moment, theres a cristian saying the same about athesists, no, really, theres a question just like this one on here. we just get defensive when it comes to religion. perhaps obsessive cristians feel pity towards those who seem blinded to what they believe is the truth, as obsessive athesists or perhaps other religions feel pity to those who are blinded to what they believe is the truth. everyone wants to tell everyone else what's right or wrong. right now, every other question on this category is about how the beliefs of other religions are wrong and the questioner's religions are right.

The Bible instructs we believers to carry the word of God to all the world. We, as Christians who believe the Bible, attempt to carry out God's commands as best we can. Unfortunately, a lot of Christians overlook the command that if we are not well received we are to get up "and shake the dust from our feet and remove our blessings from that house."

part of their religion is to convert and spread the word. Using fear mongering has been a classic tactic since the beginning of Christianity any way to get the flock bigger and the collection plate fatter
