No but I've never read it. I've also never read any of the other mainstream religion's holy texts either. No real desire to.

Very good question. I guess I was when I was younger and first read it. I was raised in a Lutheran household and was brought up to believe in everything that was being told me in church. Somewhere along the way (I think confirmation) it just started ringing falsely. I was finding bible quotes that contradicted other quotes. Finding things in the bible that no person with half a brain would dare follow (keeping slaves, raping women, etc.) and I tossed it aside as not being true on the whole.

There is some truth in the bible, but it is few and far between.

Does hope count? Or does that destroy any objectivity I might have had, in my miserable fallen state? One thing I've noticed about people that consistantly tell the truth; they never worry if what they think jives with they said before. The truth dovetales beautifully. (except for a few exceptions, that I like to think prove the rule). The Bible is the Truth.

p.s. it is said that consistancy is the hobgoblin of small minds. (and your mind is not at all small)

I started reading the Bible to prove that it was wrong. I couldn't, and now-- lo and behold-- im a Christian.

Not JUST because of the Bible, either. Secular science and modern archaeology had a lot to do w/ it.

To me, I had to have proof of some kind. I mean, I wasn't gonna believe in some God just because Brother Joe said he existed. I needed to know for myself that Christianity made some iota of sense.

I like this question you make a lot of questions that I say whaaaaaaaaaat? But this one I actually like I am doing the read the Bible in a year thing but to answer your questions I am going to have to read it in less, :). But to answer yes I thought it was true before I read it I knew it was true before I knew how to read, it's about faith man, and yes maybe you don't make sense of Christian's "blind" Faith, but until you give God a chance you will never understand...

Even more so. Upon reading it, I began wondering if people were right in saying that the Bible was written metaphorically. We all need to remember that the Bible was written by men, not God.

You have absolutly no interest in an honest answer... have you ever concidered getting some kind of help for yourself?... There is life outside of Yahoo Q&A....

But to give a short answer to your baiting question and make a bit of something you can snikker at...as you so desperatly seem to need it....Yes.... And the one who convinced me was God Himself.
