There is this guy I talk to in Greece that I know for sure he doesn't know spanish only hi an bye stuff. This morning I received a text from him in Spanish....although I speak spanish I have never heard the following idiom:

El hombre es el fuego, la mujer is las estopa, luego viene el diablo y le sopla.

Can anyone explain this to me?

Men are fire
Women are fuel
then devil blows

I believe he is trying to indirectly say that a romantic relationship between you too is inevitable

The man is the fire, the woman the estopa (Idon't know the translation, but it is a piece of clothe that is wet with gasoline or any other flamable liquid), then the devil comes and blows it (remember that when you blow something that is catching fire, you usually make the fire growing bigger)

This is a typicall saying in Mexico that is kind of dirty, it is trying to say that man and woman are made for having sex and the devil just helps them acting that way.

Well, hope it helps

Hi there!
It means: The man is the fire, the women the wood/dried grass/something flammable, comes the devil and blows them.

It means that when a girl and a guy are together it is just matter of time of having sex or making something "HOT"

It is a game of words, pronouncing in Spanish surely has its grace because he is very sonorous, in English that no.

It means: 'Man is fire; woman/women the object of desire; then along comes the devil to fan the fire.'

Cute. It blames the devil for men having 'bad thoughts or desires for women!'

Guess your friend is flirting with you, or just trying to impress you.
