I'm thinking in terms of Trig, Chem, Global Studies, Economics - Not basic reading and writing, adding, and other skills you learned in elementary school.

For me: Algebra, Psychology, Health, Economics, American History, World History, Chemistry (for understanding basic physical laws, some new technology, and the "energy debate") and Biology (because that's the field I went into, and because it helps you understand medicine, your pets, and environmental issues).

I'd also say writing, despite your request to exclude it, mostly because the majority of people I know are incapable of organizing their thoughts and writing them down using proper English and good grammar. It's something I polished up in high school, while others either never caught on or decided to never learn.

Honestly, though, I use about everything. Those are just the subjects that come to mind immediately. It's really a question of what you *want* to use. Do you want to understand the world around you in a broader context, predict (and avoid) undesirable consequences, and use what you've learned to make your life more fruitful? If the answer is yes, then start applying what you learn in high school (and anywhere else in life) immediately... then keep doing it so that you retain it. The biggest problem I've seen is that people simply don't care, so they never learn and, consequently, rely on other people or luck to get through life.

Funny you should ask--- I never thought I would use these subjects in every day life when I was a kid. Now, I use these things all the time-

I use algebra, statistics and economics daily to determine my family's budget, how much to save and where to place and invest our finances.

I used Geometry the other day when I was hanging shelves. (had to buy a protractor and a compass at the store).

I frequently use statistics and algebra at work, in order to extrapolate the potential reach and returns on marketing campaigns.

I sometimes use chemistry when cooking...

I use global studies and history when evaluating wether to vote for a particular candidate for office.
