What you are referring to is your shins. Disregard those abusive posters.
I do one exercise that helps. Sit on a chair or bench. Put a light weight plate like 5-8 lb plate on the top of your foot. Raise your toes upward, but be sure to keep your heel on the floor. If the plate falls off..try to hold it lightly with your hand to stabilize it. It helps build the shin area...and it has worked for me. It is one of the neglected areas of the body..so I am glad you are addressing it. I usually do one or two sets of about 12 reps using a 8.8 lb plate.

This helped me. Stand near a wall, and put your hands out, touching the wall with your palms. This is for stability. Than Lift and Hold your left knee which is bent at the knee. No you should be standing on one leg. Just go up to your tip toes and hold it for 3 seconds. Do this twenty times on each leg a day, and in no time, you will have legs of steel!
