I know a lot of Christains don't think it's a sin anymore, but this question is for those that do.

Grandma Susie, I don't profess that I have one clue what God wants. But some people would tell you, "God wants you to not use birth control". Hence why I phrase the question as such. Why don't you read the fine print and quit being so dang critical.

I don't know; It totally freaks me out sometimes. Look at africa for example. We populate the continent with missionaries who tell the that by the tenets of our exported religion that Birth control is wrong. Desperate people cling to religion as their only hope; as a result of following Dogma the place is decimated by AIDS. This would be treatable by Europe/America but for the fact that we have decided it is prohibitively expensive because of the fact that we need to proect the financial interests of drug companies! Yeah, **** life!

In the west we seem very good at imposing our will, religious or otherwise; what we are not good at is taking responsibility for the results...

Sorry, rant over:)

First off I am pro choice and not religious.I don't think God would want to have the worng people who are incapable of having children to have children. So I am sure god will agree with taking birth control over abortion.

As far as the world being overpopulated. I don't think it is. If people would share land and there is not such thing as nationality and passports or the idea of (the perfect living conditions) we would all be ok. Although money would still be a factor!

One quote that I found in the toilet at my school said
"A person who is prolife cannot be pro war unless they desire to be a hypocrite".
I wanted to share this with you coz I think you might find it interesting. :-)

I'm with frizgigsmom on this one.

There are too many people in the world already, & condeming birth-controll will only make the problem WORSE.

More people just means more SUFFERING for them & the rest of us.

I think it is more important to worry about the people suffering in the world ALREADY, BEFORE we start worring about what we're gonna do with the millions MORE people who haven't even been BORN yet.

I have always found it sort of wierd that people actually ENCOURAGE sterilizing ANIMALS for this same reason, but when it comes to HUMANS they go all ballistic like we're endangering our own spiecies or something.

What the Hell are they so worried about?

There are presently almost MORE humans in the world right now than ANY other animal combined.

So what's one or two or even a MILLION less people compared to the total world population right now?

If there had been the same # of ANIMALS in the world, we would have been ordered to EXTERMINATE them.

What makes HUMANS so much more importat?

So, in so many words, I think you have brought up a VERY important question & hope you can finally come up with the answerers you & I are BOTH looking for.

Overpopulation? this is going to take extremely an prolonged time to even get to an "overpopulated" difficulty, no longer to show "heavily". the comprehensive modern-day inhabitants of the planet can in good shape into the state of Texas with room to spare; united states of america, all on its very own, has the flexibility feed the comprehensive international. Ask the politicians why human beings nonetheless pass hungry, no longer the Church. Ask governments why they use components wastefully, no longer the Church. Fewer human beings won't remedy those issues -- human greed, the basis of all of it, could nonetheless proceed to be. this is fairly naive to take the Church's place on beginning administration and make it in charge for all of mankind's ills.

I agree with you, rules about no birth control were created when the infant mortality rate was so high that you could have 15 children but only 3 would make it to adulthood because of natural diseases and effects. Now if you have only one child that child will in all likelihood reach adulthood. We need to control the population. One couple one child for at least the next 200 years.

why do you blame God for everything that churches say or do? Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to McDonalds makes you a hamburger! If you want to know what God says go to the Bible. If you notice, it's the ones who do not marry that tell people do not practice birth control. Not bashing Catholic Church, but what the Catholic Church says and what God says are worlds apart.

God never said not to use birth control. Thats a Cathiloc belief, stemming from the Immaculate Conception, that life begins at conception, and in no way should be hindered.

Only catholics believe its a sin. That is birth control. Abortion always will be.

I for one don't belive the world is overpopulated. There are certainly Cities that are overpopulated but there are vast areas of this planet that has little or no-one living on it. And if floating or underwater cities are ever developed we will have much much more room to grow.

First is not God who insists but the priest, pastors, some religion leaders and followers.

I dont think birth control is inmoral or sinful.

Contrary to what people hear, the world is not overpopulated. There are too many people in one place, and food is stolen before it gets to those in need. Man makes problems of his own, God put the stuff here and said work with it.
