My Dad was admitted to a rehab facility for physical therapy. While there he contracted c-diff. Within a week he was dead of multiple organ failure. I am really upset and confused about all of this. I am wondering if I should persue this legally?

There are too many things you haven't mentioned. Was he on long-term antibiotic therapy for something? That's usually how you contract c-diff. Was he on Flagyl for the c-diff? What was he in physical therapy for that he needed to be in a rehab facility? Sounds to me like he had a lot of other things going on if he died of multiple organ failure. You can see what the autopsy report says and if you feel that you have a case, contact a lawyer.

I'm so sorry. My father died of cancer when I was 5.

I am so sorry for your loss. I don't think you can sue a rehab facility if someone catches something like that unless you can prove negligence. Also, if he was in a hospital before he went to rehab, there probably is a equal chance that he got the c-diff there. Contact a malpractice lawyer to make sure of your rights.

I am a health-care worker, and they teach us that almost all of us carry c-diff in our nostrils (gross I know), but that it doesn't affect us as long as we are healthy. It usually only kills someone if they are debilitated or have poor immune function- the very old, the very young, the very sick. Sorry for your loss :(
