I work out 3x a week, which includes lifting weights & a cardio...usually sprints or jump rope. I'm in high school and play basketball year round. Is quitting ice cream and pop good enough? What else should I try... I'm pretty thin and have developed a lot of muscle and strength but i have a lot of extra "flab" around my thighs. Any suggestions of what to eat before/after workouts and what to eat on a regular basis?

My dad has been a professional bodybuilder for like 20 years...he eats a lot of peanut butter, fish, eggs and he drinks those gross drinks that you buy at the health club...along with that he takes like 12 vitamins each day.

He is pretty intimidating to all my guy friends b/c of how big his muscles are.

Eating lean protein within 5 or 6 minutes of working out puts nutrients back in that you lost. That may help

30 minutes before you workout, drink a Redbull and a spoon full of peanut butter. If you don't have peanut butter drink a protein shake.

Immediatly after your workout, drink a protein shake and a 20oz. bottle of Gatorade

1 hour after your workout, eat a bowl of mixed vegetables.

After the workout, get some protein to allow for your muscles to begin repairing themselves and grow, and some carbs to replenish the glycogen.
