I live in California too. I'm not sure what information you want in concerns to our state exactly though. Perhaps I'd know more if I knew where you plan on residing. For example, the southern part of our state is much different than the northern part as far as the cost of living, as well as the environment and some places are more congested than others.
Google some questions about California and you might get some of your questions answered.
